Hello Jochen, I am one of the "unfortunate", who did not check the MkIV-Navi type before purchasing on ebay - I've bought the BMWM01S unit! Yet I am lucky anyhow, because of guys like you ... and cato.boss.

My question is: where do I get to download such unaltered v24 and v28 OS versions?

Many thanks!

Hi,

the changed V28 you will find here:
Radio to Monitor software V28

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=55EG9VOT

Each version before V28 will do the job as mented by Jochem, the V24

Use a v22 OS.
Replace all files:
csb 0100 BMWM01S
with:
cdb 0100 BMWC01S
you must include subdirectories.

Replace:
cdb 0200 BMWM01S
with:
cdb 0200 BMWC01S

Replace:
Mk3 0103 BMWM01S
with:
Mk3 0103 BMWC01S
Do the same thing with directories 0116 y 0127.
You must include subdirectories.

Delete the following directories:
langMk2
Mk2C
Mk2m
V_2

IMPORTANT: Create the image, use the procedure related by KiwiJochen on the following thread:
http://www.xoutpost.com/246230-post14.html

Now load the v22 modified previously. You could see the update progress in your screen. Wait the eject of disc, remove it a press right knob on screen.

My mk3 doesn't ask for cd-key. Probably the mk3 OS is greater than v17. In your case you should probably try this:

Nav will reboot, now with colour screen.

Cheers.

The numeric folder name relates to the hardware version of your nav. Have a look at the nav hardware version on the label, or read it out of the nav with NavCoder.

Once you know your hardware version, you only need to change the files in that directory.

You cannot change a mono (x-2/xx) to colour (x-1/xx) by just inserting the OS disc.

You have to instruct the nav, via special software commands, in a special sequence, to change the output mode. Then it will load the right type of software from the OS disc.

My NavCoder program can do this for you: just click a button and NavCoder will change the unit from Mono to Colour.

NavCoder is shareware, and costs 20 Euros, and you can download it here

Cheers, Jochen
