Your software version is 3-1/21 (v2.1) and VERY VERY old.

Before you do anything else, upgrade your software. The latest version is 3-1/63 (v6.3).

It will make many problems go away. and it will give you much nicer, smarter looking graphics. Totally different look, much more modern.

The Telematics screen is in the Service Menu. To access the Service Menu select Set, then press and hold MENU until the Service Menu appears. Then select Telematics, this is where you see the settings that NavCoder programs.

Mk3 OS CDs

For the Mk3 any OS disc newer than v22 has the last version (3/1-63) on it.

Cancel your v21.1 download - that contains 3/1-62.
See versions here:
http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/29257

You need v22 or later. Once you have the image, burn the CD with it using your favourite image burner

Note: BEFORE you insert the CD into the Mk3 nav, you MUST verify it is a Mode2 CD - use Nero InfoTool or any other CD tool to check the CD mode.
If you try and load the OS from a mode1 CD, the Mk3 will hang and won't boot.

Loading process:
Turn ign to pos1, let nav system boot up to display menu
Eject map CD
Insert new OS CD, follow on-screen instructions. DO NOT turn ign off during load process.

Tip: try this process on the 2nd Mk3 - you may fix it with a new OS version
