OH BOY, I THINK I DID IT!!!!!! Let me tell you what I have done and you tell me if it sounds correct.

1. I couldn't find MagicISO so I downloaded and used UltraISO.

2. I used UltraISO to open up the saved V27.mdf file that is on my hard drive.

3. Once the V27.mdf file was opened in UltraISO I found the V_2 folder. I opened the string V_2 RR 0101 BMWC01S app_sw. I then saw the file "navboot".

4. I right clicked on the navboot file and extracted it to my hard drive.

5. Once the navboot file was on my hard drive I closed UltraISO and I opened NavTweak. Using the "File" botton in NavTweak I found the navboot file on my hard drive and I opened it. Clicked the Images tab, then the rombitmaps tab. I scrolled down to item #14 and found the === BMW ===. I right clicked my mouse on the line and selected "replace". I selected the i-drive logo.gif that I saved from Paul Martins previous post and was now on my hard drive.

6. The new logo was now in place. I then went to the File button in NavTweak and slected "save" and re-saved over the navboot file on my hard drive with the revised one I just changed.

7. I closed everything and then went back into the navboot file just to double check my new logo was there, AND IT WAS! Un-friggen believable.

8. Now the revised navboot file was still on my hard drive. So I open UltraISO. I found the V27.mdf file on my hard drive. Again found the V_2 folder and went down until I found the navboot file. I then took the revised navboot file that was on my hard drive and copied/replaced the navboot file that was in the .mdf file.

Does that sound correct to you? If not let me know what I might have done wrong or forgotten. If it is correct, can you please just walk me through the burning of the final files onto a CD-R.

1. Can I use UltraISO to burn the new CD-R? Or do I need to use the Alcohol120% program.

2. What files do I burn to the disc, the .mdf, the .mds or both of them?

3. Lastly, how do I change my burner speed to the slowest setting (x4)?

Thank you, thank you, thank you for ALL of your help!!!!!!! I can't tell you how much this means to me. I'm not and idiot, it's just that I have never done anything quite like this before.

Let me know about burning the CD-R questions.

Mark

Hold the presses, somethings wrong. I thought I would double check my work so I opened up the V27.mdf file using UltraISO and re-saved the navboot file to my hard drive. Using NavTweak I tried to open up the nabvoot file to make sure the new i-drive logo was there and an error comes up "unknown file format".

I have a feeling when I saved the navboot file from my hard drive back into the .mdf file through UltraISO I did something wrong.

What do you think?

Your process was 100% correct.

To burn the CD you now use the "Burn CD" (or similar) command within UltaISO.
eg:
Open the MDF file
Select "Burn CD"

Within UltraISO there will be a CD burner option screen somewhere, and there you select the lowest speed.

Dunno why you saw "unknown file format", try again. You were definitely doing it the right way.

Once you have burnt the CD, you can then re-check the navboot file by opening it from the CD using NavTweak. That will confirm if the CD is correct.

Make sure your new screen file is saved as a .gif before you replace the original .gif in NavBoot.

I tried it again and for some reason it worked this time? Thank GOD! (like GOD really cares about my custom logo ). So I am going to run out to the store and get a good quality CD-R and try to burn it. The X5 is actually at the dealers overnight for an oil change first thing tomorrow AM.

I'll let you know what happens tomorrow when I get the truck back. I've got my fingers crossed.

Thanks
Mark

IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't beleive it. I have the i-drive logo at start up, the "accept" screen goes away after 8 seconds, and I have perspective view.

KiwiJochen, I can't thank you enough for your continued support and always responding to my questions. If you are ever in the USA I owe you a drink (maybe a couple).

Thanks again. This board is awesome!

KiwiJocen: Question for you. Ever since I loaded the V27 OS I have been getting random checkered flags. I don't have any destinations set and the flags pop up randomly in different spots. Have you ever heard of this? Do you think it's a glitch in the V27 I downloaded.

Thanks

Don't know why. But I'd suggest you use the latest version which is v28 (4/1-80).

Maybe its a bug, and v28 fixes it?
