The .ccd is what you want to burn onto your CD to load the new OS. Not sure whose it is but for an answer for you

a lot of people do a great job here, to recode the Nav software.

And then are the people who download this recode software.
The most software is made for special burning software.

It doesn't matter with extensies this software is. Just a little google and you wil find the right Burning software.

ccd= clone cd image
mdf= alcohol 120%

Alcohol 120% fix the most.

So please try something by yourself...............

The problem I had was that when I unpacked the .sar file, I didn't get .ccd files. I get two files: V28.mdf and V28.mods, but no .ccd files.

I'll try again, but I think I understood the concept: download the compressed file, uncompress, then copy the cd image to a cd and then walk out to my car.....

I just didn't get any .ccd files in the specified target directory.

CD images files come in many flavours. CCD is just one of these. Whoever built the CD image file you have downloaded did so with the help of Alcohol 120% software. The .mdf and .mds files you have obtained are the result of such specific software having been used, and constitute a fully valid CD image of the V28 system upgrade disc, just as a .ccd file would have been.

You already downloaded the compressed file and de-compressed it. No need to do any of that again.

Then, you do not - repeat: DO NOT - copy the CD image file to a CD. What you would get if you did that would be a standard data CD with a CD image file copied into it. That is not what you want. The Nav computer expects a system upgrade CD with a specific file/directory structure. It does not understand a data CD containing a CD image file of a system upgrade CD.

What you do is "generate" a system upgrade CD from the CD image file (or files) you downloaded. To do so you need the same software that was used to build the CD image file to start with, and that means Alcohol 120%, in your case. So download Alcohol 120% from the net, install it (you get 30 days trial, y think) and use it to burn the CD image into a blank CD-R or CD-RW. Thus you will have "generated" a fresh system upgrade CD from the CD image files. Then you can walk out to your car.

Another alternative which I've used for .ccds which does NOT involve CloneCD but involves the free software IMGBURN and DAEMON TOOLS:

1) Download the .rar file and unpack using WinRar
2) Mount the .ccd file as a logical volume using Daemon Tools (note the drive letter)
3) Use ImgBurn in "read" mode to create a new .ISO using your logical volume drive letter as your input source and any filename you select for the output source
4) Lastly use ImgBurn in "write" mode to create a new CD using your newly created .ISO file as the input source and the blank CD as your output source. Be sure to use MODE2/FORM1 is showing as the burn settings and go SLOW (4x if possible)
