Just some advice for any ppl using MK3, if u upgrade to a later OS there will be no benefits after version 22.1. So its not worth upgrading because the MK3 computer is not capable of showing them. Also if you really do want to upgrade to say V29.1 when u use a MK3 u need to use Imgburn and burn at 4x or less. Some ppl might already now this but just wanted to make those MK3 users aware because a lot of advice on this topic assumes u have MK4.

I just did the upgrade in my sister's 04 330XI with no problems. It seems that nothing changed in her car. When I did it in my 05 M3 my emergency button in the menu disappeared and the telephone button moved to the opposite side of the screen. The emergency button still appears in my telephone menu but it doesn't allow me to enter into it. I also have a grayed out traffic button... Did the emergency button disappear from anyone else? It used to give me the option instead of contacking BMW assist from through the nav screen instead of the mirror buttons.

Smile Thanks to all!

Hey everyone,

This forum is wonderful! you guys are amazing.

Thanks to you all. I have successfully upgraded my MKII in my E39 2000M5 (sorry it's not an X5) from 2 -1/28 to 2-1/81 (the latest on 29.1) thanks to all your detailed instructions and posts. Worked simply and perfectly the first time.

All NooBies (like me) please take the time to read this entire thread. All your answers are here. I did, and even had the confidence to handle a 'blank screen' failure if it happened.

Now onto bigger and better things!Such as:
Since I have an MKII (4:3 screen) can I still do custom startup screens? If so, I assume the resolution of the graphic will have to change.
I saw some great graphics in other forums here on X5world, but I think they're all for a 16:9 screen.

MKII looking for a place to start. Thanks in advance.

Will there be much difference between v13 and v22 for the MKIII? If so, what would it be?

Arrow

Hi, I' writing from Italy and have a BMW 330xd (E46 year 2004) with a DVD navigation system and high europe map 2 2005. I've just succesfully upgraded the gps software version to V29.1 (my previous version was V25); everything seems ok but I'm not able to set and see the 3D map perspective mode (that shoulg be seen with any map disk 2004 and up).
Is there anybody who can help me please?
