I think rar files are usually collections of files of the form:
filename01.rar
filename02.rar
etc.

There are programs that take all the .rar files in a directory and assemble them into the single large file that they were split from (and give you info if any are missing, probably requires some type of master .rar file -or maybe in the info is in the first part?).

You should probably look around elsewhere for this type of info, it's getting waaaaay off topic for this forum...

Good luck.

2007.1 Taking it apart and putting it back together!

OK, I got it Robert!

To recap, I used Utorrent to download the maps. A WEB search for 2007.1 or 2007.2 and torrent will find it. For a series of files that end in .rar, use winrar to extract ALL the files at once, it knows how to put them all back together. My problem was I assumed it would not and I was trying to unpack each one, NOT NEEDED! Then I used ImgBurn to creat the disk. It reads the now unpacked and reassembled files and know what to do! I found the NAVI DVD reader likes a +R disc NOT a -R. In fact a re-writtable worked fine!

Found it on the board:

Enabling perspective (birds-eye view) with MKIV and v27 firmware or newer:

Push the "MENU" button to get to the the main menu.
Scroll to the "SETTINGS" menu selection and click the knob to select it.
Push and hold the "MENU" button for about 8 seconds to enter the GPS Service Menu.

Scroll beyond the bottom to a 2nd page, where you will get the Perspective option.

Click the knob on the Perspective option to select it.
Go back to the map view and click the knob. Select 'Map Positioning' then 'Perspective'

Thanks to dvs, this was his write up.

So i DL'd the file and burned it to a disk, and the system started to update, but said i had a faulty disk. Now i have a blank screen. I retried to install the OS with another disk and it sounds like the DVD player is reading it, but it doesnt update. Any info on how to fix the issue would be awesome. I noticed that when i first burned the disk i didnt have both the mdf and mds files on the disk so i reburned it and tried to reload the OS but i stayed blank any ideas???

You wrote DVD player so I guess you have a MkIV unit...

The clue is to writ SLOW to the disk (preferably 1X) but as slow as possible. If you use "ImgBurn" (recommended), use the "VERIFY" function to be sure that the disk is written correctly.

If the disk is to be read in a MkIII or earlier the disk MUST be written in MODE2. The MkIV can read a MODE1 disk, but not the MkIII...

Start this way and then you can successivley increase the writing speed.
I have successfully written disks in 48X, but all CD / DVD writers doesn't do a good job on all types of media.

I'm using a Plextor writer and quality media. (Sony, Verbatim, etc..)

You are not just copying the .MDS and .MDF files to the disk, are you???
You MUST write using an "Image writer" software such as ImgBurn or Alcohol 120%

thx for the reply i think i fixed it. After 5 disks and 3 different programs it finally took a reload. I am not sure what i loaded becuase it looks the same but i have the ability to select the perspective mode. It doesnt change the view but i can select that option. I have an 03 with 1.8 OS. I am burning the newest maps right now at 1X speed, but im only at 8% 8 hours later .

Welcome to the forum,

Perspective mode needs to be enabled in 2 places,

1: In the arrow map pointing menu and
2: The hidden setup menu.

Go to the menu screen select set (or settings) and hold menu button for 10 seconds, when the hidden menu appears scroll down untill the perspective mode option is selectable.

8% in 8 hours, something wrong there, It should do a disc in less than 20 minutes.

Hope this helps
