Dutch is not a standard language.

The instrument cluster has no support for Dutch. It can only support the 6 x standard languages. This cannot be changed.
I read this on the forum:

The MKIV supports 8 languages, and all eight languages are on the OS update disks. You have to code the MKIV for your language preferences, and that tells the MKIV which language files to load from the OS disk. So, you could get a dealer to change your language selections, or you could do it with NavCoder.

MKIV Language Choices
  • German - D
  • English (GB) - GB
  • English (American) - US
  • Italian - IT
  • Spanish - ES
  • Japanese - JP
  • French - FR
  • Dutch - NL

You can set your Region to Europe, whereby the Miles will be UK miles, and you have no 'Accept' screen
Setting Region to USA creates US miles, and the 'Accept' screen.
Use NavCoder to change the Region setting.
My question is:

When I load v29.1, and dont change anything. What will i have?

Wich language?
Wich region? ("i no dont have an accept screen")

Because I am not able to use navcoder, i dont want to fuck up my sat nav

No change will be made to the languages if you do not request a change. Only the new version of Nav OS will be loaded.

Because you are in Europe, you almost certainly have a nav that is already set to European mode.

Search by zip code??

I just updated my 05 M3 from V26 to V29.1 using my Mac and Toast (Thanks for all of the info. in this thread by the way).

I still can't search by zip code, though.

Do I have to update my Navteq DVD in order to see this functionality? I thought 'Zip' would be one of the Address Parameters, but it's not. (My NAV DVD is 2004.2).

If so, is there any better/cheaper way to get the NAV DVDs than for $200 from Navteq?

Cheers.

^ now V31 is out, just FYI...

I've been told there are other ways to get newer versions navteq disc's without purchasing them, but such talk is prohibited by forum rules, or last I knew, it was. Maybe someone reading these two posts can PM you AND I a source, I think I'm using a 2004.2 DVD also, its time for an upgrade...

Is there a "free" version of toast? I bought a mac mini a few months ago and just thought this was something I'd have to do at work on my PC...

EDIT: Oh, ebay is a good source for some new but mostly used navteq DVD's, be careful though, don't accidentally buy one for the i-Drive cars, they are not the same...

Thanks for the info. I did a little searching and haven't found any definitive list of updates in V31 vs V29.1 - maybe some bug fixes behind the scenes.

I don't think there is a free version of toast. Unless you go the torrent route, of course.

I'm still trying to figure out how to search by Zip Code - does anyone know if I need to update the Map DVD??? Thanks!!

EDIT - looks like you need 2006.2 or higher for the zip code functionality...

1. Update to software v10.0 (on OS disc V31) to fix bug fixes

2. Update to newest map DVD for your region. Purchase new copies from BMW or map maker.

Messed up the Upgrade

Hi,

I had version 25 and attempted to slap on version 29. I followed the instruction in these posts to the letter. The upgrade started ok, then it said the CD is defunt, however when burning it with Alco 120 I had no errors. Now, my Sreen has gone to a very old version and looks bland, and make things worse I cannot get the CD out the unit. Can some please help!!! I have a 2005 M3, UK model.

Desperate and really worried.
