Frozen Navigation...help

My Navigation system keeps freezing. When I start the vehicle it resets and gives me a screen. I am on a road trip and could really use it, but am having no success.
This all started when I put an updated navtech disk in. When I try the old disc it does the same thing.

Help

The disc says 2001.1. I do not know what version of the nav. My vehicle is a 2001 4.4 that has the cheesy little nav screen. I have seen some of the posts with people trying to upgrade and it sounds too like too much trouble to me so I've touched nothing.

Is the updated disk an authentic Navteq disk, or is it a copy. These are nortiously sensitive to copied disks. If it is a copy, do you have an original that you could test with. Also, if it is a copy, try re-burning another copy on high quality media at the lowest speed (1x or 2x).

It's the genuine article given to me by a buddy who sells BMWs.

Look in the top right-hand corner of the 'Set' or 'Settings' screen - report back on the numbers you see. This is your software version

You should upgrade to 2-1/81, which was the last version produced for the Mk2 nav.

This may well solve all your problems.

Thanks. Any idea how much that costs? Where do I find the upgrade data/instruction?
