Exclamation Hello, i could really use some help...

Hello,

I think i have a little problem and i need some help...
Yesterday, i've downloaded Navigation System v28, i burned it insert it in the DVD compartment... the screen said something like "Software upgrading... please wait", then my screen went blank... I couldn't get the Cd out... after a while it got out but now the menu is all blue and white, only made of text (not like before) and also "GPS Navigation" is gone from the menu... Why is that and how can i fix it? Please help...

Also, i am considering now downloading v29.1 and to try and install that, is it a good thing?

Thanks.

Your Nav computer now has no good software on it so it can't boot up, the TV module has taken over as a backup.

Get a new software image and burn it slowly on good quality media, you should be able to recover it.

If it's a MK III (CD map) then make sure the software is an ISO mode II disk, they won't load a mode I disk.

I have got the same problem. But sometimes it works fine. Sometimes it's suddenly gone off and display a different menu with informal color.
If it's software problem why it's working fine sometimes?
Anyone can help?

Your Nav computer is crashing and the TV module is kicking in as a backup.

Check your map disk for dirt/scratches as read errors can cause this. If the disk you are using is a 'backup' then make another using different/better quality media and a slower burn speed.

Which Nav computer software version do you have (top right on the Settings menu)? With some older versions I had a lot of trouble when there were a lot of TMC messages.

It's the newest one which is v29.1.
However, I have changed the splash screen is that will cause the problem?

No, it shouldn't if it's been done correctly!

Are you using a 'backup' map DVD or an original? Even if a 'backup' works they can be very unreliable unless burnt slowly with good quality media. Read errors can cause the Nav to crash.

Yes, I am using the backup DVD map now in my drive.

Everything is correct.

If you are having ANY problems and have a 'backup' DVD you need to replace it with an original to see if the problems still exist. The Mk IV is VERY fussy about what DVD's it will read and which it won't. I have one PC where the MK IV will only read a disk that is burnt at 16x, any slower and it won't work. On another PC with the same DVD blanks it will only work when burnt at 4x. I've never had a problem with the DVD's burnt at 4x, but the 16x ones are a bit erratic ocasionally.
