You know you can replicate the entire structure and have the ALL sitting right in the top menu level (above the top menu in the original BMW categories).

Can you play with the disc format to reduce the segment size so as to hold more files?

Or create a flatter directory structure to provide more disc space...?

One more thing: access speed is also determined by the indexing block size that you use in the IDX index file. Bigger index block can mean quicker access for big files.

Yes, I do know that. However, trying to dump all 6 million POIs into one single top-level Search All POI category puts too much stress on the nav computer and makes searches slow. When I break them down into the six smaller sub-categories (as I have), then things work MUCH better. Searching is VERY fast (within mere seconds) as long as you keep the search radius down at 25 miles or less.

I haven't tried doing anything with the disc format or the directory structure in order to get more disc space. At this point I'm still shy about 250 MB and so I doubt that doing those things will make that much of a difference anyway. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Thanks OfficeMaven and CCFJ1 - I do know HTML, but had no idea our nav system was html based...

I guess I'll need to go explore the map data disc
