I though all E46 had CD changer pre-wiring, though perhaps that is only in the USA. Make sure you don't have the changer cables wrapped up in a bundle of fuzzy tape. Any of the E46 CD changer installation instructions on the web should have pictures.

The master junction for the iBus (as well as other circuits) is in the glove box by the fuse box. You can find instructions starting on Page 11 of http://web.archive.org/web/200701091...tion_Guide.pdf.

You can also find the iBus signal in the connector for the phone and on the NAV computer in the trunk. It should be white with red and yellow stripes.

Allright, but on my Resler Interface I have a IBUS pin, Ground and 12V+.
Can I find those cables also in the glovebox or can I just get it directly from the battery?

The CD changer wires are well wrapped up, I found them a little tricky to find. I'm sure they are present on all E46's

Im sure about to 95%, no car is prewired for anything. There's no possibility to order something like that from bmw.

Perhaps you bought a used one and the dealer removed the cd-changer. So it looks like "prewired" in your eyes. In germany i know some dealers who do this.

All US BMWs are prewired, overseas vehicles are a different story. There is an ibus wire present on your factory HU at PIN7 on the harness:

Terry's correct. There are other locations, depending on if your M3 is prewired for telephone or not.

hello,
i have the same problem with an 330 ,no prewired.
so in this picture the end of the 6pin goes on the left down and the end of the 3 pin goes to the car's power fuse in the pin 7?
is that what you say?

The 3-pin at the boot does not connect to the radio, but communicates within the same bus system. the white wire (ibus) will communicate with PIN7 on your radio harness.

Other 2 wires are power and ground.
