Burning v31 for MK3, how do I select Mode 2?

I have made a copy of V31 for my two neighbors with MK3 drives. I see so much info about burning them in Mode 2 yet I don't know how to do this correctly. And I do not want to be responsible for crashing their MK3 units.

I see something about useing ImgBurn in Mode 2. I searched for a writing program called ImgBurn and came up empty handed. I am using Alcohol 120%, and I already created a version of v31 for my MK4 which succesfully updated my MK4 computer. So if I write a copy of the new v31 that I edited the MK3 splash screen in what do I need to do differently in burning a CD in Alcohol 120% to ensure I don't crash their nav units?

If the original image is not Mode2, then you cannot change it. Get an older image that was properly captured in Mode2. Remember for the Mk3, every OS disc above V22 contains the same Mk3 software, so easy to find Mode2 images.

Your search for ImgBurn cannot have been very long: www.imgburn.com

I am completely lost... Where is this Mode 2? In the Nav software or in the imgburn program? Please elaborate, I am not understanding.

For Mk3 nav: High Risk! Do not use Mode1 CD

For Mk4: low risk, Mode1 CD can be used.

Mode2 is CD format.

CD format is displayed in ImgBurn:

Put ImgBurn into 'Write' mode
Select the desired image
Look at the 'Sectors' line.

My V30 image shows...
128,542 (MODE2/FORM1/2352)
...which means it is a Mode2/Form1 formatted image

If it was Mode1, guess what: it would show MODE1 !!

If you want to know about CD formats, read the Wiki
