Is it worth going from V26 to V32 on MKIV?

I've read almost everything I could here on this site and it seems overall if I update my MKIV from V26 to V32 I'm not really getting any great upgrades. Am I wrong? I like the perspective 3D graphic but hear it doesn't show streets and people complain so I guess it's more for a "cool" look. Let me know what you think.

Also, I realize the V32 offers no updates at all for the MKIV and I should load V31. However, I have a V32 original cd disc from the dealer so will this V32 give me everything up to date including perspective mode, past bug fixes or should I get a V31? I'm a little cloudy on what I should do, if anything. Oh, and I have a 2006 map dvd if that makes any difference.

Thanks for any help.

PS-is it true that when in split screen mode it doesn't show the current location anymore but shows the next closest town? That would be annoying and a deal breaker for me because the V26 I have now does not have that issue.

You can use either V31 or V32 - they have the same SW for MK4 - SW4-1/00 (100)....

The main new function (in comparison with all previous SW) - reading DVD DL (all new maps has the volume approx 5,5 - 6 Gb and should be burned on such disks - dual layers)

There are quite a few reasons to go to v31 from v26, there is the 3d perspective mode (i use) for a start, there is also some screen driver updates and some brightness settings adjustments, as well as various bugfixes.

In spltscreen mode you get your current location in lat and long (well I think you do, i don't use SSM).

Also why would you want to stick with v26 when v31 is available?? it's like sticking with win 95 when you can have XP.

Thanks. I don't use burned map discs so that's not an issue.

Great thanks for the info. Are you saying V31 will be faster with your Win 95/XP analogy? On my V26 I get lat/long but I think this is worthless, never used unless an emergency and shouldn't be displayed on the screen. Thanks for the comments. I'll update mine this weekend and see what happens. I have the V32 original cd so it should go uneventful.

Do the upgrade to V32. If you don't like it, you can always bounce back to V26. Though, I suspect that you will prefer V32's perspective mode. I live in the Atlanta area too, and could not imagine going back to the older version. I'm not sure the "nearest town" thing really applies here. I think that is a UK thing.

For anybody in the US, the biggest reason to upgrade from V26 is that starting from V27, the startup nag screen disappears automatically after 8 seconds.

johnnybel, if it makes it any easier for you, there is an ISO image here: http://www.bmwportal.net/navos.html
