Scratched 16:9 glass...
Hi, picked up my 2006 X5 Le Mans Sport last week (bought over the phone) and the nav display is quite badly scratched. I'm presuming its not a simple job to get a replacement screen ?! Any (sensible) suggestions ? Are there any products out there to remove/help remove scratches......'glass food' type stuff that fills in the scratches ?
Cheers Chris PS - loving being back in an E53....this is no 4 now after a break of 3yrs... |

Another member here had a deep scratch too. He posted detail procedure on how he fixed it. You have to search it.

Best (easiest) fix is to buy a screen protector. I bought one from these guys http://stores.ebay.com/ScreenPatronus after accidently scratcing nav screen and the scratches are no longer visible.

Also - do the screen protectors go under the lip of the screen surround ie you remove the outer bezel so that you can't see the edge ? Chris |

Before and after shots of using a screen cover thingie.
Seems to work very well. Lots less hastle than removing the BMW protective covering, although its not perfect as pictures show. Chris. |
