CD-r mate, best to burn on the OEM spec disc, it will work on a dvd-r but only recommended if the cd laser has packed up.

Hi Chaps,

Seems this is the place to be for help on Upgrades. It's been very helpful reading through the informtion on here.

I've been attempting to update my MKII Navigation from the info provided in here. Just don't seem to be able to get the unit to read the CD I'm burning for the ISO File. From My PC, I can see the CD has the contents of the ISO file on it. But the Nav unit in the car just ejects it after a short period.

I've been using IMGBURN v2.5.1.0 to burn the CD. The CD(s - 4 to date) I'm using are Verbatim CD-R.

Are there any not so obvious things that need to be done? Open Boot, Open Drivers Door. Wait for lights to go out on NAv Unit. Eject Map Disk. Turn Ignition on. Insert Image CD. It's as far as I get as the CD ejects.

Any Help would be much appreciated.

make sure you are creating a CD from the ISO image, and not simply copying the ISO to the CD.

Also, if you already have the latest Mk2 OS, then no further upgrade is possible

Thanks for replying so quickly. It's this bit I think that confuses me and is why I listed the IMGBURN version. I don't seem to be able to see the woods for the trees on that phrase above. Do I Select "Write Image to disc" which seems the obvious one, or one of the other relevant options, which are "Create Image File From Disc", "Write Files Folders to disc" or "Create Image File From Files/Folders"

Just seem to have a mental Block on this one

As before, I do Appreciate your help on this. The software Version is 2-1/22.

newest is 2-1/80 so an update will help

ImgBurn:
Select "Write image file to disc"
Click directory icon next to Source: "Please select a file" and select the ISO file
then click the big button bottom left to make the CD

Thanks agin for the help.

It seems Windows 7 was the answer - It has an option from Right Click to burn the image to disc, which created a disc straight away that the Navigation Unit read and updated from.

Not sure what I was doing wrong with IMGBURN, but none of the 6 discs (and two different people who tried) would work.

I'm now updated. Thanks for your help on this.

E61 cars do not use the I-bus ver 32 disk, they are a Most-bus system and you get updated at the dealer. Also it does not have a MKIV computer. I think they call it the CCC system.

Ohh ty that's why it did not look like a MKIV system.
Do i need some special navigation software for it?
