I installed the V31 in my 04 e46 and noticed a little difference in the look, but i'm not finding this perspective view people are talking about. Also, I'm in need of the updated navi disc to accompany my v31 update.

Hello all,

read all post about v31 and now about v32, and still have 2 questions:

1. in forum found this advice "Burn a new V31 and measure the errors and do a surface scan before you use it.". Could you please advice what software to use to do that?

2. in forum found "5. DO NOT SWITCH OFF THE IGNITION DURING UPDATE PROGRESS, otherwise you'll kill your navi". My question - if it happans that upgrade was not succesfull and I get black screan, what to do next? Is my navigation hardware then useful, need buy new one? or I just have to try update it again?

thank you

Options:

1. Send nav to VDO for repair (re-flash)
2. Throw nav away
3. Cry

v32 with a navi02

I might be missing something... Hoping someone can help.

I just ran the v32 upgrade. Seemed to load just fine and now the software read 8.4.4 (for the navi02). I assume it is loaded, but the accept screen still doesn't go away after any period of time (I got the impression updates after v28 had the timed remove feature).

Also, the OS software reads as FF.FF.FF hex. Is this correct? Should the accept screen be going away?

I'd prefer not to do the downgrade -> upgrade method if I can avoid it

Does anyone know how far I can upgrade my mk.II v. 16?
Will version 32 work?

This happened to me recently because I think my nav doesn't like a Sony CD writer that I tried. It put up a message to the effect that the "Update failed". Then there was only a black screen. I then simply loaded an older upgrade CD that had worked in the past, and it installed that version without any problem.

Hey guys, I'm new to this and I'm a little confused. I have a MK IV unit so is it OK to load V32? Or do I have to load V31 since it is the one with changes for MK IV? Also, since the MK IV is DVD based, do I have to burn the image file on to a DVD or can I burn it on a CD? If burning on either is fine, which one is more preferable, DVD or CD?

Sorry for the n00b questions and TIA.

The BMW OS discs contain OS software for 7 (seven) different nav models, from those released in 1994 to the current model in the E65

V32 contained changes for the E65 nav, and no changes for any other navs.

This means that V31 and V32 both contain the identical OS version for the Mk4, being 4-1/100

You can use either V31 or V32, the result is the same.

The Mk4 will read CDs or DVDs, the OS disc is normally on a CD, but will load equally well from a DVD. But just leave it on the CD, its easier.
