A little help please....

I have been reading on this forum for a few weeks, and could use a little hand holding...

I have recently bought an 05 X5 4.4 for my wife. The navigation unit doesn't seem to be up to par. I am assuming the previous owner never updated the system to current available standards. I have seen in several places that version 32 is available and it should cost around $16.

I went to our local dealership today, and asked for the update CD for our X, and was the appropriate DVD is $199. I was obviously shocked and instantly knew I was not completely clear on what I needed.

The part number the guy told me was 65 90 2 241 695

My question now is... what exactly do I need to do an update on our system? Our current system shows SW 4-1/50 on the screen.

Read post #7 from Brian. http://www.xoutpost.com/electronics/...avi02-e65.html

What part of town are you in? I have the disk and my Indy at Auto Europe also has it. We are in Midtown. Brian has it too but he is in Peachtree Corners.

Thank you for the response Roy...

I read that post, and that seems to be what happened for me. I am now curious as to what they were quoting me?

I am in Social Circle (near Covington/Conyers) , but work in East Atlanta. I would love to meet up with you and get a little assistance on the upgrade.

Is my SW 4-1/50 likely the software that came with the car in 05?

Edit: I just purchased online from pelican parts. I ordered part number 01.59-0 141 891. Total price was $6.75 with $3.45 shipping via usps.

They are quoting you the 2012 DVD map discs. The OS CD is different and cheap. I expect your nav has never been updated. Takes about 10 min.

OK,.... v32 has loaded... what kind of differences should I notice ?

Is it going to take the high priced OEM DVD to get the streets that have been created since 04/05 ?

I am still running my 2007-2 CD. All depends on where you live and travel I guess. Don't buy a new DVD map without checking with Brian. He said some of the new one aren't good as they changed suppliers. I can make you a copy of my CD if you want.

Hi, All, can someone please hold my hand for a min as well.

Please correct my understanding. I am deff lost somewhere.

1. So V32 is just the OS, as in Operating System, has nothing to do with the new updated 2012 maps, correct?
2. If I buy a the maps, 2012 navigation high from Ebay, will it effect the v32 OS version that I downloaded w camera alerts, M logo, and night mode?
3. I've been reading forever, and can't figure out what I need to use to burn the V32 OS that I downloaded. I downloaded navspeak, navtweak, and poison. This is probably what is holding me back from making my nav look as cool as you guys have.

Please help a fellow Xer out. Thanks in advance.

Another question. I downloaded all the stuff from Home. Will the V32 OS work on my USA car? Thanks again.
