Well I finally managed to finish it today and it worked !!!

Radio, CD Player and Navigation !!

I also upgraded the software to v32, and used the resler interface along with Navcoder (which I bought) to update the iBus .....

So a massive thanks to everyone who helped and advised especially Jochen.....

I do have one final question, the sound quality doesnt sound as good as it did before, I think i am missing sound from the speakers on the back corner of the dashboard, could this be a posibility?? and if so can anyone advise on where and how i could get them working again??

Many thanks again

Jon

Put you ear to each speaker and ensure each speaker is working

If it is not, check wiring from speaker to amplifier

Also, if the amp is a DSP amp then it has to be coded to your car to ensure the sound parameters are correctly set.

Thanks for the help again......

I checked all the speakers, 1 on each rear door is working, and 1 on each front door is working, but the ones on the dash arent, I did read somewhere on this site that there are 8 speakers as standard, is this correct ?? and if so where would the other 2 be?? and do the front door speakers have tweeters on them??

I dont know if it is a DSP amp, how can I tell ? and if it is how do I code it??
A picture of the AMP is here BMW E53 E39 x5 navi wirings wth Alpine amplifier on eBay, also Monitors, DVD Players Monitors, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 18-Feb-09 21:57:29 GMT)

Also the FM radio reception is no where near as good as it used to be before the fit, but all the wiring is correct for the aerial, any ideas??

And yes, francoE38, i intend to upload some pics of the car and setup, once I work out how to

Thanks again

Most cars have 8 speakers - 3 in the front, each side (low/mid/tweeter) and low/tweeter in rear. The speakers are in the door, there are none in the dash.

If DSP then nav shows "DSP" in main menu.
To code it see a dealer.

For radio reception, do radio and antenna amp match? (new gen radio with new gen antenna amp, old with old) ? To help here we need to know age of car and what gen radio module you fitted.

Thanks for the reply again.....

The car was registered August 2003, its a UK 53 plate 3.0d Sport

I cant see DSP on the Nav display so I guess its not DSP

The BM54 is the following:
Becker BM54 TMC Part Number: 65.12-8 385 897

As for the speakers, i guess i will have to check all the wiring again

Before the retrofit, the radio module was part of the tape unit in the dash, is there a connection diagram for this anywhere to show what speakers were connected to what pins on the black connector that fitted to the back of this module ????

Thanks again for your help and rapid response

What are the last 5 digits of the VIN?
They will provide me with the production date.

This can be very different to the date of first registration....

PS: people outside the UK (such as me) don't know what "UK 53 plate" means....
