Question Navcoder works but doesnt program...

I bought the full version, made my own databoard

hooked it up
and i see all kinds of ibus traffic
phone
nav
rad

etc.. its continuous

good sign right?
wrong

when i try to code or run the nav/audio i get constant timeouts

i cant do a thing with this software what so ever

i tried getting a better ground as suggested by a few here
nada
i even hooked it to the battery neg
nada

tried several other ibus connection like on the vidio unit, cd changer etc.

i even tried to move the com port around as someone else suggested
com 3, then com 2, then com 1, then com 4....
nada

my laptop does not have a serial port
so i used a pcmicm to rs232 com port
i also used a usb to rs232 com port

everything i do is the same,,

only other thing i can do is:
bring my desktop into my trunk of my car and the monitor
my desktop has a com port.

but i will now need another serial key..
what do i do? buy a new one?

Regrettably not. Though I believe Jochen is working on it but I think it's limited what can be programmed over the i-bus.

It's an amazing bit of software to do what it currently does IMHO. Got me out of a scrape with my Nav coding, and has allowed me to do something my dealer claimed was impossible without spending somewhere near £800, and that was to enable Voice Recognition on my Bluetooth module.

If you are viewing the data fine, and it is appearing without errors, then the ibus to COM port receive is OK

But if you cannot talk to anything, then the COM port to ibus is not working

When NavCoder sends a command, it appears on the ibus and appears on the NavCoder screen. So watch the bus data when you send a command - do you see it?

If you don't, check the interface!

Common problems:
Interface fault
Tx line not connected
Another device is using the COM port
problems with USB-to-Serial converter
