Mode2/Form1 disk burning tragedy

Hi
I've been reading alot on this board and have now realized that I burned a copy of nav32 update software on roxio which I have now screwed up my navigation. I have a MK3 cd navigation that is now a blank screen and no radio. I am in serious need of help burning this software in the Mode2/Form 1 to correct my problem for my MK3. I would greatly appreciate any step by step help in doing this or would pay for a copy of this disk burned correctly or even if I could get my hand on the 31 mode2 download link and then burn it. I don't know what to do and don't want to do anymore harm to my navigation than I already did. Is it true that I might have to burn a version down since I mess up the v32?

I'm in southern California
thanks for your help

Welcome to the forum.

Here you go, mode2/form1, v32. (but only 3-1/63)

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

Download and burn with imgburn, and at the slowest rated speed of the blank cd.

Open the .cue file with imgburn.

This file will overwrite any and all versions for the mk3 from 3-1/63 to 3-1/64

The Nav voice volume is not set by the volume control in the menu (under setting (or set)), the one with the bar and the voice saying "louder/quieter" ) in the system setup, so setting it to anything here is a complete waste of time... (unless you want to mute the radio when being given a voice command).

This is for setting the amount of attenuation of the radio in relation to the value of the navigation voice.

You can set the loudness of the navigation unit in two places.

1: via the TP option on the radio, get to the TP volume button and set the volume up or down as required, this will set the TP volume (traffic news etc) AND the Sat Nav voice volume (this is in the Navigation manual, that came with the car.)

Note:: TP Volume: Traffic Patrol
Provides adjustment for traffic report minimum value. On some vehicles this setting can affect the NAV volume. (on mine it does)
Refer to Service Bulletin B84 02 03.

OR

2: Via the secret menu, and setting the GAL value.

Use the Radio service menu (the link is to a pdf file).
http://tinyurl.com/3c4poa

Note:: GAL: Speed sensitive volume control.
The speed sensitive volume control can be adjusted from level 1-6 using the 6 preset audio buttons. Radio volume increases more at level 6 and less at level 1 (road speed dependent).

Strictly speaking you should not use this to adjust the Nav voice, as it's for adjusting the radio's speed sensitive volume control only, but as a side effect it adjusts the Nav voice as well.

I used the TP option and it has now fixed the Nav voice volume. (mine was too loud).

Confusing I know, and not logical, but that's the oddities of software engineers.

Hope this helps

I originally had ver18.2 and in my 2002 540 MK3 (that came with the car) and now that I install the update v31 I lossed the nav voice. It's so faint you can hardly hear her. I don't think I have the TP Volume I looked in the manuel.... What to do next?? I would like to be able to hear my nav voice. Could I install another v31 download?? Maybe the night one? I don't have any other v31 to install unless you have a link to another one? And will that fix the nav volume?? Or do I do the second step GAL. (Oh if I install another software version do I have to go to a lower number then come back up to ver 31 I read that somewhere is that true?) I greatly appreciate you responding to me and helping get this corrected. Once again thank you

Hmm, not seen this before, BTW v31 is for the mk4, you have used the v31 image to update your mk3 to v22.

I thought the the mk3 also had the INFO button and TP menu.. not sure what to suggest next.

You could try it, maybe the image you used had a error.

Maybe the night one?
Yes you can use that, here is the nightmode mk3/mk4

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

This one will update your nav computer version number to 3-1/64 or 65.

Make sure you follow the correct procedure for the update and burn at either x1 speed or the slowest rated for the disc, also make sure its a mode2/form one image before you use it.

There are plenty of images on here for you to try.

And will that fix the nav volume??
It's hard to say, it might.

You would need to install v21 or v20 for the version number to change.

No problem, I hope you get it working.

Here you can download the v21.1 Version.
This is an image in MODE2/Form1. So you can reactivate your [INFO]-Button.
Next you can update to NighView from ccfj1.

Should anyone like to use the oldest Version for MK3, he can download v17.1 Version.

So what your saying is if I download the v21.1 I will get TP volume button. (I am pretty sure I never had it to begin with.) Once getting the TP volume button to fix the nav volume I can then reinstall v31? (Won't it get over written then by reinstalling a higher version?) I was also reading on the board that the nightview had some errors is that fixed or it won't matter to my MK3? Thank you again... you both have been extremely helpful and I appreciate your time

It's a long time ago since I had a mk3, but I think that you should have one, maybe a mk3 owner can confirm.

No, absolutely not, your mk3 does not use any part of the v31 (mk4) update.

All versions of the OS updates from v22-> v32 have the same version for the mk3 OS, ie: 3-1/63, the mk3 is not being updated any more and is outside the update path.

All you will get is "software is up to date", when you insert the disc, or a dead drive if you put a mode1 disc in.

That's why nearly all the OS you find on here is in mode1, because it's no good for the mk3.

The nightmode OS for the mk3 and mk4 have now been fixed and should give you a 3-1/64 version number, they are all OEM in functionality, but may have a custom splash (m logo, or OEM ===BMW===), every thin else for the mk3 is the same.

All my OS images are in mode2/form 1 so that the won't kill any mk3's, but always check this before you use it.
