Rob (bob01):
Did you ever get a clear answer to this? I'm about to order a 2006 X5 with Navigation option and even my dealer is confused about what Voice Recognition/Command capabilities are included or optional. Based on my research here, and what you've learned, it seems that my X5 will come with Bluetooth/BMW Assist that includes only VR for phone functions. To add additional VR functions for the Navigation system requires adding the "84 41 6 913 352 Voice recognition module". Is that correct?

I have an Oct 2006 build X5, with NAV ... I can tell you definitively that the only VR in my vehicle is for the phone. There is no VR for the NAV (or, none that's working, anyway).

I suspect that there is either another VR module needed.

Thanks for the confirmation. I think the VR module that works with the Nav commands is 84 41 6 913 352, but I'm hoping someone here can confirm.

Just to confirm what Bob was saying earlier, my new '06 X5 with bluetooth assist only understands Phone related commands. If anyone breaks the code on this (either how to open up functionality or which module needs to be added/repalce) I'd like to find out too.

I absolutely love the X5.
