Reverse light is in the rear light cluster. Speed signal will be at the ABS ECU, as well as under the dash. I don't know where that is on the E39.

i had a feeling it might end up with this solution.

the reason i ended up here was another thread that had a similar situation and this is the post that i was thinking of

ccfj1 has been helping me find the right loom, but i guess if the black 6 pin isnt there i will end up tapping as per the above
