Nav problem no voice prompts

I have retrofitted mkiv nav to my 2002 e39 and don't get any voice prompts to turn, etc from the nav while I am driving, however I do get them when I am watching the tv while driving. I have got navcoder now but I am not sure what I need to do to get the voice prompts working.

Have you used a retrofit loom? Or did you use a nav retrofit loom to a factory TV loom?

I purchased the loom from dealer direct using part number I got from bimmernav.
I read some other posts re connecting pin 9 to 18, etc and have tried that but no luck

As I understand it the nav audio goes through the TV module and on to the radio unit, using shared audio input pins there. I think the radio switches to the nav audio mix upon receiving a command on navbus. It is my opinion that the audio is connected correctly between the nav, TV and radio module, since they work on TV mode.

When you are expecting nav audio on CD/FM, do you get the expected audio mutes/fades but no voice prompts?

Are you using a BM24 or BM54 radio? If the latter is pin 9, 5 and 6 on socket C fully connected all the way to the GPS module?

I have checked and pins 5,6 don't go through to the nav (blue plug I m assuming) also pin 9 no wire there at all. Where do I run the wires from those pins to on the nav side of things? Also how do I add a pin to the plug which has just an empty hole at the moment

This is a curious one. I'm not sure anyone has come accross this fault before, or if connector B or C is the one used for nav voice. Have you dug out the PDF retrofit instructions to see if you have missed a step? Sometimes there are a few loose wires on retrofit harnesses that need to be clipped into existing plugs.

I followed the directions from bimmernav to the letter. It is really annoying as the voice works when I am watching the tv with the nav enabled which must mean that the nav audio wiring is ok but doesn't get enabled
When I am just listening to the radio or cd

Since the CD/FM mutes/fades when the voice prompts are supposed to be present, I would say the enabling is happening, but the routing is wrong. Have you dug out the BMW PDF instructions? Might be worth doing.
