Enter Flashit configuration and in Target system tab make sure the SYSCON0 is 0x1094 (default is 0x0094).

Next, under "flash memory" section select External memory and Basic address: 0x100000

That should do it.
Thank you for the info, will try it in two weeks (I am going to vacation tomorrow.) Actually I already got Willem programmer, spare 29F400 and PSOP44 adapter, just didn't have time to mess with BM54. Hope your config works, as it saves me from unsoldering old flash.

Question Free programmers, similar to FlashIt?

Hi, are there any free tools similar to FlashIt that will accomplish programming the 29F400 chip without having to remove it?

Also is there a suitable hardware (USB/serial) device for doing that?

I'm going to programme my BM54 Back to be a BM54, but am leaving the old round pins circuit in place. Pins like telephone in are mapped through to the 10-pin connector, which is what I want (ULF to car stereo speakers).

Thanks!

That will not work. If you put the firmware upgrade on a back unit, you will lose the sat Nav voice.

Hi thanks for your reply, can you explain why that would happen?

Crazy stuff. I will try this myself when I do it. So you did this and discovered for yourself? Cheers.

I've done 1000s of bm54 upgrades. A guy wanted auxiliary input on the Back unit and so I did the firmware upgrade, which worked, but no sat Nav voice. It would lower the volume of the music, but nothing comes out. I would also assume, that the tv sound would not work, as it shares the same input on the bm54 back.
I never tested the Back with regards to audiotext from an MP3 changer. No point I guess, as if you can't have sat Nav voice, then there is no point IMO.
Better off buying a flat pin bm54, more options and more use of the firmware upgrade, with dynamic routing, auxiliary iD3 tags, better radio control etc.
The amp upgrades are the first port of call on these units. No point of doing anything with a ticking time bomb on the IC amps, which fail and are the worst sound quality in any car I've ever been in.

Hello guys!

My bm54 unit had lots of distortion and squealing noises! I've already do the amp upgrade, but the problem persists.

Maybe it's something about the processor chip? Anyone could help me?
I'm from Portugal, so it's difficult to send the unit. If you could try to help me through message that would be perfect..

I just need to know if anyone has experienced that problem and how to repair it (which part is deffected, etc)

I've already made the firmware update, de-soldering flash. It makes any difference if I try to reprogramme it with red plug on the board?

Thank you so much in advance!
