I don't know about the details of your system, I know that some DSP equipped cars used a digital audio signal and the tuner module passed all the volume control duties to the DSP. I have never heard of an analogue dedicated CD connection to the DSP, but that is not to say it didn't exist. Do you have the opportunity to find a $50 DSP amp to try replacing the unit you have?

Could you buy a SOT-060 adaptor and use a small speaker to test the FM with the speaker outputs from teh BM24/BM54back?
