Question OEM Coax cables question

I am looking at buying some new Antenna coax cables for my car and came across them on realoem. However, my contact has told me that there are two types, and he isnt sure which ones I need and what the code 'ZF' means. You got any idea?

Antenna Diagram

Item 4 3635mm ZF = £30 each
Item 4 3715mm = £10.30 each
Item 5 1650mm ZF = £19.95 each
Item 5 1335mm = £7.50 each

Picture attached.

Also he says BMW GE state that item 4, 3715, wasnt a UK item.

My car did NOT come with Nav, but a previous owner fitted it all (badly) hence the need for the cables.

Cheers
Stan

ZF is a the diversity termination at the radio end. Post 09/99 such as the BM54 need the NG FAKRA termination only at the radio end. All FM amps use a Hirschmann Mini UHF for the main channel. You can see phots of all the terminations in this thread.

1.65m cables will not reach the front of the car. The BMW Nav tuner (if that is what you have fitted) is normally in the boot.

Thanks for that Bob. I have a 2001 E46 330Ci (coupe) with BM54 and MK4 nav. So which ones would I need?

I thought item 4 went to the nav screen at the front, and item 5 to the BM54 unit? Hence 5 being so short.

You'll need a number 5 NG. Check a 2005/2006 E46 parts list for the NG part number. There is no tuner up front. You may also need the post 2001 FM amp, as detailed in the E46fanatics link in post 2.

Bob, I will be getting a new amp anyway as I have the older type. What is the thin white cable with brown plug for? I cant remember.

From here, I guess its this one ?

05 Antenna cable Diversity NG 1335MM 1 09/2001 61126912489

RealOEM.com * BMW E46 330Ci SINGLE PARTS F ANTENNA-DIVERSITY

Thanks by the way!

The amp is about £20 on eBay, the single wire is the alarm received signal post amplification.

The only worry for me is that the BMW wires are tight tight tight. 1.35m is the shortest cable they could use when robots assembled the car. Having a look at an X5 or E39 from the same era may glean a ~2m cable making installation over the existing harness a little easier. Try bmminiparts for discount new old stock.
