Repair Service for BMW Navigation DVD Player(Computer)

I have a 2003 BMW X5 (e53) equipped with Navigation. It is all OEM. At the system gets hung up and gives a waiting message. At other times, it dies not recognize the DVD and states no DVD. I found on Ebay a service in Colorado that offers a repair for $159. Has anyone used this service? Do you have any other recommendations?

While I have toyed with the notion of attempting a repair myself in that I have worked on laptops, but changed my mind. Your thoughts...
