Contact V1

I purchased my V1 in 1999. They have an upgrade program. I spoke with a rep about two weeks ago and for $189 (with the return of my V1) they will send me another V1 with the latest programming.

Actually I've sold my old v1 on ebay and bought a brand new one from valentine. After finished installing the hardwire kit, I cannot get the unit to power up. At first I thought I didnt install the hardwire kit correctly, but after playing with my multimeter I am sure that it is installed correctly. I cant even get the unit to power up using the 12v dc plug adaptor, and using about 5 different phone wires. I am sure that I got a defective unit, as my old unit lasted 3yrs of abuse. Does anyone knows if Valentine will do an advance replacement ? (charge my card for another new unit, and refund it after they got their defective unit back) I am going to drive cross country from Oregon to Charleston Sc, and I want to have the latest and greatest radar :)

Thx

I own the Escort Solo S2. It works great, and the best thing is that it is wireless. Runs for a long time on 2 AA batteries. They are on ebay as well as Sharper Image. So easy to quickly swap in into another car if need be.

I have both the V1 and the Escort 8500 Blue, definitely go with the V1 IMO b/c I don't "feel" safe driving with the 8500 compared with the V1 because the beeps means nothing without telling you where it is, in addition the V1 has a better read out for signal strength and is easier to just glance at when you get get a hit. Also, you don't have to change from city/highway mode (I like to drive with the "ALL" function on the V1 where there is no filtering)

stupid question but 1) did u check the fuse on the hardwire kit 2) did you turn on the V1? Just thought you should check.

My choice is V1. It has saved me so many times. I just love the arrows. As a backup, the Escort Passport 8500 X50 is pretty damn good but it has no arrows.

Send your V1 back in and get it fixed after having K40s and V1s in my Porsche turbos and GT3s there is no better detector. One ticket will eat up
any savings.

Heard nothing but good about the V1

Pardon my ingnorance but a radar detector tells you if there are cops ahead of you right? So you can speed with confidence? Thanks.
