Which radar detector should I get
Looking for a backup for my valentine1 radar, any suggestion ??
Thx |
Are you replacing the V1 or just getting another??
The V1 is a great detector, but I guess two V1's are better then one..... :D |
Well, my v1 died today, and I feel very uncomfortable driving without a radar detector. Thinking of getting a backup for when something like this happened. Thinking of spending no more than $100 though.

i dont think ure gonna get even a half-decent one for 100

aint nothing better then the aarows telling you where the cops are sitting :)

Did you check the fuse on the V1 electric adaptor?

I'm a BEL fanatic, actually talked of few would be V1 guys out of the purchase when I let them borrow my BEL X65 for a day or so. Though the BEL is a whole lot cheaper, so if you prefer a V1...go with it.

I've got one of the Cobra models that tells you in English what band of radar or laser is being used. Can't remember the model number, but I've been very happy with it.

Go for the Cobra if you only want to spend around $100, I had one for 3 years and it worked "ok" at best. You can pick one up at your local Best Buy and they even have voice command. IMHO if you only want to only spend $100 its a waste of money, just go all out and get another V1 or something similar (Bel 995 or Passport 8500) because the $100-$200 dectors are usually only good for detecting X Band, which is good if you live in NJ. In other words, you are not buying a radar detector, your're purchasing a device that informs you are about to get a ticket.
