This is great fun, although getting slightly off topic.

It may have been before we were called Canada (1812) but we were invaded once. And you know who did it, eh? The following year a raiding party attacked Washington and burnt down the White House. You had to build a new one. They they all gave up and called it off (abridged version). Friends since.

That doesn't really seem like he hates Jews when he asks them to unite with Muslims.

Dont start this Israel is the land of the Jews propaganda. There is no such thing as land of the Jews. Being from a Jewish family I laugh at that. Israel has a right to exist because they are already there, but not because it is the land of their religion.

What about the Muslims and the Christians? The hell with them, right?

If you want to defend Israel come up with something better than it is their land because some religious book says so. That is exactly how wars start and have been started over that land in the past. A better excuse would be that they are already there and they have invested and improved on the land.

By the way the majority of the people inside Israel are Arab. Jewish Arabs do not call themselves Arab they call themselves Jewish. All the Jews in the Arab lands went to Israel when it was created. 500,000 of them came from Morocco.

 Thank so much for you for your voice of reason especially coming from your background. I was getting extremely irritated from all the Arabs and Muslims are bad, they kill all the Non-Muslims... rhetoric specifically the ones who has a pro-Israel point of view.

so either we have the highest crime rate (WRONG), or we catch all the criminals and put them in jail (RIGHT). by sheer numbers of population (per capita times population density) that means either:

1) our legal system deals with offenders

or

2) we jail too many people (innocent and not innocent).

your argument/post is MOOT and BS.

that means our legal system works and that we have PENALTIES for crime.

it DOES NOT MEAN OUR CRIME RATE IS HIGHER.

it means OUR PROSECUTION SUCCESS RATE IS HIGHER, and that WE DEAL WITH OUR PROBLEMS.

son, give it up.

As of 2004 the United States had the highest percentage of people in prison of any nation. At a rate of incarceration of 726 inmates per 100,000, the United States has the highest reported rate in the world, well ahead of the Russian rate of 532 per 100,000. In 2004, more than 2.1 million Americans, or roughly 1 out of every 138, were in prisons or jails, a figure which represented one third of the world's prison population. To illustrate these figures, if the United States had the same rate of incarceration as Japan or China, only about 100,000 people would be in jail.

So we have less than 5% of the world's total population, but 33% of the world's prison population.

drex 08-16-2006 06:09 AM

this just verifies that the largest, more developed countries have either

1) more crime (wrong, see the other chart)

2) more prosecution successes and stiffer penalties (right)

ahhh. that means the more civilized countries have a higher prison population, and lower crime per capita; therefore, a more aggressive tort system.

Drex.

for your many tables and stats on crime figures to be of any use.

You need to consider a couple of things.

1. how many crimes go un reported.??????? which in turn could affect the amount of people jailed.

2. we need the numbers of cases that go before your courts agianst how many are jailed.

Have you got these at hand.;)

Eric5273 08-16-2006 01:03 PM

Consider that the United States has less than 5% of the world's population. From your website:

Assults by country (43.6%)

Rapes by country (30%)

Total crimes by country (34.1%)

You say:

that means our legal system works and that we have PENALTIES for crime.

it DOES NOT MEAN OUR CRIME RATE IS HIGHER.

it means OUR PROSECUTION SUCCESS RATE IS HIGHER, and that WE DEAL WITH OUR PROBLEMS.

So I ask you then, what sort of statistic WOULD mean that our crime rate is higher?

More stats:

Prosecutions by country (64.6%)

Prisoners by country (the stats you posted above, but in a pie chart format)

And, from the US Justice Dept's website:

http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/glance/corrtyp.gif
