These are some major standouts, but there are hundreds out there worth listening to.........
I've got close to 4,000 CD's and I would say 1/4 is Trance/Dance/Electronica music.

See, I am going to have to disagree with this selection above. Paul Van Dyke, Oakenfold, ATB and Tiesto are all TRANCE. With the exception of Oakenfold's early stuff, like OSLO.. Most of the four listed above are way to geared for kids. It's not a sophisticated delivery of electronica. It's the stuff that many of us started listening to and quickly grew out of.

If you like bands like "Pink Floyd" and want the electronica version of that sound, go Sasha and John Digweed. But if you want more "theatrical" "candy ravers with glow sticks" go with the list of the 4 above.

you sure you don't mean "Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill?" because that's the name of a Russ Meyers film?

I believe that Electronica incorporates TRANCE in the whole genre, just as it does powerpop, dance, drum-n-bass, techno, etc........They are all included under Electronica.
The trance musicians that I listed are some of the top quality DJ's out there and just don't cater to the glowstick rave dancers...........

You should try and locate any cd mixed by George Acosta. The guy is a South Beach Trance legend.

Also try on Mauro Picotto and Mario Piu. THese guys run shit in Italy when it comes down to Trance.

Trance is dying out though.. House is king in Miami!

Kevin,

When I get to Cali I will let you sample some "real" house music. You don't really know house music until you stop buying cd's and start mixing your own. I have some stuff for you when I get there.

After reading the above artists I know what electronica is now, everyone just called it 'dance' music over here, and I have got plenty from Oakenfold and ATB in my old stash of CD's. Now if I could just find them.

Aceyduecy,

You know, I used to live in Miami and that is where I shot my documentary. It was during Winter Music Conference (yr 2000).. The doc featured, Dave Seaman, Sandra Collings, Hybrid, Sasha, John Digweed, Blue Sky, Dave Ralph and a few others to name the least.
I also used to spin, don't have much time for it anymore though. I have even spun at Crobar.
And I used to shoot a lot of Dj's at the old Club Space before they moved. Deep Dish, Jimmy Van M, and lots of others.

I have to admit, I am not so into electronica anymore. Mostly because Los Angeles does not have an electronica scene. It's almost taboo here unless you meet a very specific demographic. When I lived in NY we had Twilo and Vinyl. When I lived in Miami it was everywhere but mostly Crobar and Space. Here in LA it sometimes gets played at house parties, until some annoying rocker chick starts whinning that she wants to hear some old Jackson 5 records..
