Ummm....I'm pretty sure you can plug another name into this sentence instead of "Hitler", and it would make perfect sence. Well, perhaps not the "Killing" part. ;)

Regardless of the reason, we are doing the same thing they did in terms of stretching our military thin. We currently have military bases in over 130 countries. We are only 5% of the world's population. If the rest of the world gets pissed off, it does not matter how hi-tech our military is. We can't even seem to win the war in puny countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. Forget about it if a few normal size countries decided to take us on.

WTF, we don't "win" in Iraq because they aren't a direct threat. We have more military capability then any country and could easily dispatch of any enemy, no matter how many, if the US was really threatened.

We beat the crap out of Saddam's little army. We beat the Taliban army. Last I checked there were new govt's in place in both countries.

And the same could be said for Austria and Czechoslovakia in 1938, Poland in 1939, France in 1940, and about two dozen more countries by 1942.

The problem is that unless the population supports the new governments, you will be stuck in an occupation situation forever. The war is over when there is no more fighting. Until that time, nobody has "won". You can declare victory when our soldiers all come home and Iraq is as peaceful as it was in 2002.
