Better being scared than been killed. Unfortunately in my 25years of biking I have seen a lot of kids either killed or seriously injured for not being careful enough on a bike. A superbike is 100hp or more and that is a hell of a lot power on only 2 wheels.

Its not brain surgery or rocket science but I would definitely take some lessons, complete a driving test and start out with a a street legal 4 stroke enduro...crawl...baby steps...walk...run. Jumping into a 100 to 140 hp bike is making yourself a prospective decedent.

if u're doing 100 plus hooking up a little godsmack to the earphones adds a certain high

I agree alpac, and know what you mean. I started young and still have my license. When I was a senior in HS a 16 yo kid across the street sold his 100cc trail bike and bought himself a Kawasaki 650. (I was a senior at the time riding a Suzuki 250 Enduro) That Kawasaki was a screaming machine back then and it was the first year it was out. A couple of months later he was killed racing a car on the way to school.

I was just hoping we could talk some sense into lamantonio, to start out a little slower. His profile says he's a lawyer so he's probably not stupid. Hopefully he'll take some of the advice given here. Just wish he'd talk to us about it.

mmmmmmmmmm, one less lawyer?

Lawyer, huh?

Well Lamantonio, take no notice of those pesky fellow members wanting to scare you off.

I'd get one of those Suzuky Hayabusas, or the latest Kawasaki Ninja. Just make sure you've got at least 180HP on tap, something modest with a 200mph top speed and a 0-60 in 2 seconds or less. For the best possible effect:

- Take the brand-new bike, with brand-new unscuffed tires, out to the nearest slippery road (on a rainy, or snowy day, preferrably after dark).

- No need for a helmet or leathers; that stuff's for sissies.

- Stand upright with the bike under you, with both feet firmly planted on the ground.

- Crank the baby up. Accelerate (that'd be the moving rubber piece over the right-side handlebar) to redline, while in neutral, some 10 or 15 times, for 20 or 30 seconds at a time, to get the feel of that great Superbike engine.

- Squish the front brake lever (the one on the right-side handlebar) and the chutch (the lever on the left-side handlebar)

- Engage first gear (that'd be the lever by your left foot, press it down). once the gear is engaged, Place your left foot back on the ground.

- While keeping both levers squished with both hands, rev that baby up till redline, and keep it there.

- With one smooth but swift motion, let go of the clutch (left hand), holding on to the front brake.

- As soon as you start smelling and seeing all that nice white smoke coming out of the back tire, swiftly let go of the front brake lever (right hand), and hold on with both hands on handlebars with all you've got.

Have Fun !

With this method, you're guaranteed not to need use of any further gears. Ever.

Cheers,

ok boys and girls. sorry i've been away, but this thread has gotten OOC.

from someone who rides a superbike regularly (as well as a super P-car and X5), I don't appreciate any of the 'intentions' which wish harm on a fellow rider.

very much NOT cool, nor called for.
