Yeah I love it when a person who weighs 300lbs (and is just fat) benches 300lbs and thinks it is some accomplishment.... :tsk: Now if you're 210lbs and benching 345lbs...that is something :) I know two powerlifters, one who competes, and he was 295lbs and benching around 400lbs....BUT he could squat some insane weight with ease. He has a unique workout routine as well, relatively no focus on reps but more so weight. For instance his beginning bench routine is 315lbs x 4, 6 times. |
I have a friend who is about 5'5 265lbs(with a 48inch waist) and benches 405 for one rep, every other day he benches and is one of those guys who tries to rub in his 400+lb bench. So to make a long story short he is obese but just benches instead of doing say cardio or other bodyparts, well I was at the gym yesterday and of coarse he was benching and I was doing dumbell bench so he ask's me for a spot and I give him one and he goes on bragging he has the biggest bench in the gym, it got me a little pissed so I say "lets see how far that 400lb bench get you when we go to the beach this year and your sitting on a towel in your t-shirt" I think its safe to say he wont be bragging about his bench again.

Actually I had not been lifting for quite some time (about three or four months) I think my muscles are just coming back more quickly this time around I am still not to where I was but I am getting back to where I was a lot quicker this time around...as for a measure the whole "how much ya bench?" crap is annoying...and one of the primary reasons I don't work out in a gym...personally I just don't believe in suppliments for no other reason then it can be done naturally and no one really knows what that stuff does to your body long term.
I should probably start doing cardio though currently I just rely on the extra metabolism when I am lifting but keep my calorie intake low it works pretty well but if my fat went away a little quicker I guess I would not complain...Currently 6' 260 38 waist |
I tried my roommate's NoShotgun. He swears by the stuff. Eh I havent noticed much difference. Most like just caffeine.
I dont want to hijack, but with all the talk of suppliments mixed with diet this leads me to another question. What are some ideas for good meals with protein? There is only so much I can eat of grilled chicken and pasta. |
I do a lot of stirfriy veggies with beef or chicken and Tofu since it takes on the flavor of whatever its cooked in it kind of just tastes like beef and stirfy sauce
I do that and some Jasmine rice I Grilled a maranated porkloin last night did pork, pineapple and a salad with some blue cheese crumbles and fat free vinagrette and a slice of fresh sourdough from a local organic bakery you can do a fast mushu with meat Coleslaw mix with carrots and a few tablespoons of Hoisen sauce throw it on a tortilla or mix it with rice either or For beef cuts I do whole beef tenderloins and cut them myself and a lot of Flanksteak which is great for stirfry and very lean |
Yes, a lot of them do rely on a decent amount of caffeine intake, but sometimes not much more than a normal person would consume during their morning coffee binge. I dont drink coffee myself so the added caffeine has a good effect on me without killing my body in the process.

I take whey isolate before/after workout + in the morning just because it's an efficient way of getting protein in quickly. Other than that, all natural. And really, whey is natural. There's no substitute for a clean diet and good form.
