Well, somehow we manage. There are also Porsches, Ferrari's, Lambo's and other exotic sports cars that survive the sometimes chaotic traffic conditions here.

Btw, nice Mustang you got there! There's a fairly large group of Classic Mustang (circa 60's) owners here too. Most of them imported from Japan would you believe?

welcome last5oh!

Tom, i finally installed my flares and re-installing bumper support. I tell you, makes a big difference. I met with andaya last weekend and you should check out his ride, same color as ours and his is like an ultimate in MOD. He is selling his 22" wheels and tires though...

Pics! Pics! Pics!

Last5oh 06-11-2008 11:33 AM

Ah... you can only go so much with larger rims without the car looking like a "kalesa" (horse-drawn cart). Case in point... on the Right are the stock 60 series tire and rim from my Mustang, on the left the 45 series 'Upgrade'
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...bravs5star.jpg

When viewd on the car it was barely acceptable, any larger rim and thinner tire would have looked awfull. Daylight within the rims is just not cool.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...obrafront1.jpg

With upgraded brakes - 13" discs and twin piston calipers it looks much better.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...obrafront4.jpg

I can't understand those sport-compacts with 20" rims, thin tires and daylight visible in the rims - and drum brakes too!!!!

Yes I believe you... I was there last August (stayed in a hotel in Makati) and saw quite a number.

BTW...I was just told about a 'new"? Expressway that links the former Subic and Clark U.S. bases. The photos in the email showed very little traffic on nice roads that looked like they were in southern California.

Looks like the ideal place to 'test' the X!.

I'm guessing you'll have to pay a toll.

June 15th is our independence day parade in Passaic. There will be different pinoy food vendors showcasing their specialties and it's a fun day.

It's in Passaic Park. plenty of parking where we can take pics and stuff.

Hey everyone in the Tri-State, if I do not have to work tomorrow (Sunday 15 June) I am going to head to this for the Phillipine independence day party. Where is the best place to park?

NJ04e53 06-14-2008 06:03 PM

i'm not sure i'll make it tomorrow being it father's day and all. The park itself have some decent parking lot if you get there on time otherwise you'll have to park on the side streets..fwiw, enjoy!

I travel that route at least 4x a month and it is a great place to ride the X. The countryside scenery's just great that you sometimes forget that you're going over 140mph!

First 2 pics were taken before it opened. Our bike group was able to do a test run. We were only allowed to use the opposite lane then. Last one was taken a few days after it opened to the public. And, yes, toll fees required.

A bit of history...during the Spanish era, our ancestors were told to always keep your arms together so as not to be suspected of stealing valuables from the colonizers lest you be sent to the dungeons of Intramuros. http://smileys.on-my-web.com/reposit...inking-006.GIF

Need Help finding Blue BBS Caps

I been looking for some Blue BBS Caps similar to the one below. Found this thread from Japan. Any Pinoy going to Japan or know where I can get some of these caps? I need 5 caps. I would greatly appreciate it very much.

Don't like the Red BBS Caps because I don't have Brembo brakes (yet) and it's played out. And there is none Blue BBS in the states.

The Caps are for a 19" BBS CH. If they were Blue CF that would be great! It would go perfect with my Topaz Blue 330Ci.
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...udie/480-3.jpg

Last5oh 07-14-2008 08:58 AM

WHy not just get the blue BMW carbon fiber stick-ons? You can still use them with red Brembos down the line.... they should make the calipers stand out more. Don't mix red center caps with the Brembos they will be a distraction and lessen the impact. My $0.02.

Hey there zzzzkev! Kamusta ka? Clark AFB is so much different now although some of the infrastructure built by the USAF is still there. The airport is now an international airport and there are a lot of commercial establishments around.

Baguio City too is a lot different. Too much vehicular traffic and pollution. But inspite of all that, it's still a popular destination for some cool mountain fresh air.

What's your X5?

Bimmer360 07-22-2008 11:11 AM

Bimmer360,

What is the replacement of your X5 ? Is it an X6, Cayenne, or audi ?????

EKS PYB 08-13-2008 06:51 PM

Hey bimmer360, why are you selling your X5? you've worked so hard to mod it and now you're almost there, you're getting rid of it.

Your ride looks awesome and its exactly how I wanted mine if I had a blue one...too bad you're selling.

Bimmer360 08-14-2008 01:25 AM

I'm getting an Audi as DD, and will just get an X6 in couple of years. And also, i will have a job that is like 30 miles away, compared to 12 miles currently. V8 would be very ugly.

I'm a Marinduqueno in Maryland and came here in '71. Just joined recently and currently in the market for 4.8. Once I drove one, I was hooked! :D

Hopefully I'll be joining the owner ranks soon. Though probably gotta wait until Manheim in October for a good deal.

Anybody in the Metro DC area can give me a holler anytime and maybe we can hookup. I bet there are some Texas Hold'em poker players around.:smokin:

Hey Franc, you're from PA? Are you familiar with the Wayne/Philly area?

I'm planning a trip to Philly to visit a brother. Planning to book a weekend stay at a Courtyard by Mariott in Wayne. I believe its "Courtyard Philadelphia Devon" at 762 West Lancaster Ave.

I need a little HUMINT here (eyes on the ground)... it that a 'safe' neighborhood? I wouldn't want to be driving into a strange city and find out I'm booking into a hotel in the 'hood'.

ANyone else from Philly here?

Oh BTW, satellite image on Google Earth (for what its worth) shows open-air parking near to what appears to be a townhouse complex. Not quite the place I'd like to park my car overnight, but its the best deal in town for the dates I'm looking at.

Major04 09-17-2008 10:48 AM

Hey - Wayne/Devon is not the "hood" it's way outside Philly to be part of the hood. It's a nice little quite town...your okay parking your ride outside.

My dad is from Nueva Ecija and my mom is from Isabela. Is it your first time to go to the Philippines or the province? You probably don't want to surf in the waters near Manila. I'm not sure if you can even surf with the wave. I don't think the waves are big enough. Maybe you can boogie board when there is a typhoon. Further south like Zamboanga and Visaya have nicer beaches. Some hotels and resorts are as cheap as $20 a week. It's always a good time whenever I go back:thumbup:

It will be my first time coming back. So, I will be the lost "American" trying to find my way around. The 'rents are going in Feb 2010 and will join them 2 weeks later. I know it is a year from now, but want to get the lay of the land before I go.
Hope that I can rent a car or motorcycle. I know I want to hit the beaches and clubs. Where are the hottest clubs in Cebu?

If you haven't been there in awhile, it's changed a lot. You really don't have to rent a car nor would you want to drive a car let alone a bike. It's not as bad in the province. I've went clubbing in the province before. It's different. If you are looking for similar atmoshpere as the US, you would want to hang out in the metro area and hit TBC111 or blueangel.

Yeah, I'm thinking most won't be able to handle the humidity/heat so will want to be where there's aircon (city). Heard about the traffic too. I'd be afraid of the mosquitos the most. I hear nets are kinda useless. They're small so they get through the net but can't get out after being bloated from all the blood it got from ya!

blueagle 02-18-2009 12:54 AM

Guys,

FYI, that guy from E46 fanatics forum belongs to our bimmer club philippines group. I am also a member of that club . We have a complete collection of 9 M3's ( all models) with an X3 and X5 ( that's me !).

To all you X5 Pinoys,

That is just a teaser so if you get the chance to visit Manila, you are in for a treat. Do not forget to bring your might SLR cameras...:nanana:

NJ04e53 02-18-2009 03:56 PM

crazy thought - I know there are many good exhaust shops in the philippines. perhaps one of the pinoy brothers can scout some place that would fabricate a bolt on exhaust system for the X5, then we can get a bulk to be shipped out here. This would be good because I believe the exhaust hangers for both the 3.0 and V8 are similar. what say you? would the cost justify the means?

blueagle 02-20-2009 04:38 AM

Hey What's going on Mij? Sorry for the delayed response.. Anyways, I sold my STi 'cause I was looking for something with a much higher ground clearance to accomodate New Jersey's "very nice" winter.. ;)

I am, however, missing driving that turbocharged boxer engine.. :( Oh well, I might be moving down to Orlando, Florida soon so perhaps I'll give the M3 a try since they don't get snow down there. A rear wheel drive car should be just fine.. :driver:

Wow... a whole thread on Pinoy's that drive X5's.

Anyway... I'm American born Pinoy (but traveled to the PI many times). My Dad is from Quezon City and my Mom is from Laguna. Though now most of my family on my Mom's side now lives in Parang, Marikina, Manila. I used to visit the PI all time time before I got married. When I go back to the PI, I always find myself just staying in Manila most of the time. Can't stay away from the Karaoke! :lmao:

My wife is Visaya and she's from Zamboanga City. Haven't been back to the PI in years... I guess it's because of the kids.

Anyway... great to know there is a huge Pinoy support for the X5! Glad to join the family... Grabe talaga!!!

May 2 Pacquiao vs Hatton is around the corner.. Let's get this meet going.. suggestions for venues? any bars/restaurants that would host this event that you may know of? Jay, check if any in Jersey City or Bayonne are hosting. anyone? - if not the 'fight' meet maybe just a regular meet would do.. it'd be nice to see more pinoys and their X5s..

Ok - here's the deal, Eugene and I were talking and somewhat agreed that 04/04/09 Saturday is a good time to set a Pinoy Meet. Before we start a separate thread, we need to know who'd be interested.

* 04.04.09 - Around Lunch time
Jersey City - Fiesta Grill if still cold and/or drive to Liberty State Park for pictures and weather permitting have a BBQ instead.

Liberty State Park

* Family friendly setting so you can bring your family of course.

oh you know Fiesta Grill is also BYOB - so buy the booze, bring it here and buy pulutan and we're good... then you can also do grocery for your pinoy food needs..it's like little manila in JC..

TwinsPoppa 03-18-2009 03:57 PM

jayjay_dee 03-18-2009 11:30 PM

Paging Gerry (Major04).... :D

oh well, i guess hes still out of the country....

Jose, just bring yourself and your family... Fiesta Grill is a flip resto so dont worry about our lunch... Liberty State park is 10-15 minutes away from it...

Hey guys - I should be able to make this...I decided, not go to ATL that weekend.

NJ04e53 03-19-2009 02:39 PM

Superocean - Welcome pare!

Eugene, that's not the parking lot of fiesta grill, but they do have a parking lot. we just need to either be there earlier or later than 12PM as it tends to get pack around 12pm.

Gerry, glad you can make it.

JayJay - We'll have to wait and get a final headcount so we can reserve our own spot..

Hopefully more can make it this time. Paging TriState pinoys!! RMak, bbjr c'mon now..

jayjay_dee 03-19-2009 06:29 PM

I have actually been keeping an eye on this meet and plus it would be great to meet other Pinoy's!! I still haven't gotten the ok from my wife (her work schedule) but if we do go, i'll have to bring both my kids as well. Plus, I also have a Pinoy co-worker who has a 2002 X5 3.0 (his girlfriend just recently bought a 328xi, so who knows what they will drive) and he's interested in possibly going. He just bought a set of 20's which make my 19's look miniscule. :damn: We both love our X5's and we talk about them all the time. Also, he's got 2 more Pinoy buddies with X5's. I think they drive a 4.6is and a 3.0. It would be great if we can all go!

It's hard for me to commit at this time... I'll know probably in a month in advance before the meet.

I think RMak is referring to the June 6 X5World meet... This april 4 is just a quick pre june 6 pinoy meet so if we do go to the june 6 meet we have an idea how each of us look like...

jollibee? hahaha, i remember the opening day, me and my lovely wife drove to queens ny thinking we can have some pinoy burgers, yeah right... waiting time was at least 3-4 hours... the line was just too long (around the whole block) so we just pictures and left...

NJ04e53 03-20-2009 12:25 PM

I did not want to flood the thread, so i decided to make our own thread in the meets forums.

I'm about a 10 minute drive from the new Jollibee, it's always busy there. I haven't had the Champ in years! To this day, I still haven't gone there yet but I had a cousin who brought us some spaghetti. Masarap!! I've heard rumors that they are already looking to build another one.

NJ04e53 03-20-2009 04:31 PM

great..now cross the tunnel and join us on april 4th..

Trust me... I want to go! I even asked my co-worker who has an X5 if he'd be interested. But it's my wife's call.

If anyone here is from Zamboanga City and speaks Visaya, that'll be a big help. :bustingup

RMak 03-22-2009 07:15 AM

Ok, there is probably a 60% chance I will be attending the meet in Jersey City on April 4th. My wife is still a little hesitant but most likely we won't have anything to do that day so we might make the trip. I told her that we are going to have filipino food with a bunch of pinoy's... how can you deny that? ;) If it rains or the weather temperature drops dramatically, we most likely aren't going to go. I'm going to ask my co-worker who also drives an X5 to join us. I don't know though if he has a log-in name for X5World... i'll have to see.

Question... is anyone going to bring their karaoke?? I know most of you pinoy's have the microphone with the built in chip that can plug into any tv. Don't deny it!

NjRx7T2 03-22-2009 11:48 AM

It's not called karaoke anymore,,, it's magic mic.. :D

Who knows, Fiesta Grill might even have it already set... :bustingup
