What's a Pinoy???
|
it's a slang word for "Filipino."
Quote:
|
pinoy = filipino guy, pinay = filipino girl ... correct?
|
yes and no. But pinoy is like being general that covers female genders as well, it's like saying mr. and mrs. bonfire or saying, are you mrs. ronald reagan? Something like that.
Zero chief, the nest of filipinos is in Daly City huh? lol...hope they're not too loud when they hang out and talk in Serramonte Mall. lol Quote:

blueagle and tbc111,
How does it feel like driving X in Manila, a lot of turning heads? Must be an eye catcher! I heard in the filipino news before that BMW is not part of the most carjacked car list. Is that right? |
Check this out. 3.6 Million in pesos for a 2005 Executive Series. Wow, just wow....

Went out tonight and it was one of the worst date I had in a long time, so came home early. May have to work tomorrow because of one of the interns "killed" a couple of displays. Oh, well! So, how have you been? I'll make it to Jersey City when the weather turns okay. Have to get ready for a convention in Baltimore and present a paper to a bunch of engineers. Man, I am a total geek. If there's enough filipinos in this board from the tri-state area we should get together. Can't really speak tagalog but, I get by. |
sounds good major...i think we have enough pinoy members within tri state
|
Guys,
Driving in Manila in an X5 is a one hell of an experience. Can you stand up against the jeepneys and buses in the highway ? Fighting for spce and inches away from touching each other.....I am sure tbc111 will agree with me. It only gets worse with the increase of motorcyles weaving thru the highway and oftentimes hitting your side mirrors ? The key word I would always have to keep in mind while driving is "PATIENCE". My X5 is so precious that I do not want to risk even the slightest damage. Having an X5 diesel helps a lot with the daily taffic I have to live with. |

A full tank of gas sa Pinas ? Since I drive a diesel X5, diesel pirce is around 37 pesos per liter. A full tank in my X5 is around 95 liters. You can do the math....

Playboy Philippines was launched last night. It was held at the old Philiippine Plaza (now Hotel Sofitel), if some of you still remember the place. Very well attended. I guess people were hoping that it'll be as "liberal" as those in most countries, but it's not. Bitin nga! Here are a few pics of last night's affair.

jayjay, i experienced a weird noise too on the front. read below and hope it will help you.
Guys, i think i have to share this. well anyway, lately i hear a little clang noise on the front right side under the front suspension everytime i drove the vehicle in motion. first, i was thinking it was a brake caliper problem. inspect the brake, everything ok. but still the clang noise is there whenever i initially put the vehicle in motion. i even brought the x (02/4.4i/120k km) to the dealer to be diagnose but to no avail, they could not find where the noise was coming from. so this clang noise was really bothering me. to make the story short, one weekend i thoroughly inspect all linkages on the right front suspension. jacked up the right front and support it and then wiggle the wheel. found out that the right ride height sensor bracket was loosed and every time i wiggle the wheel i hear a clang. item 9 & 10 on the link drawing. since i had this fix, clang noise was gone. hope this will help some of you guys who experiencing some noise problem. http://www.xoutpost.com/attachment.ph...d=12028330 89 Attached Images |

just hit west side ave and you're in for a treat. there's a variety, but hands down to fiesta grill..great food for great price also clean, and they have a parking lot so you won't need to street park unless it's full. There's a red ribbon at newark ave. and other pinoy shops all around. let us know when u visit again and we can all meet up.

Would you guys give me an address so, that I could put it in my GPS? I know I am asking alot but, darn it...if I want to eat Filipino food, I have to fly to Tampa to see the 'rents. And I don't really cook! And I am from Philly, don't know the area in Jersey City.
|
Gerry,
there are 2 Fiesta Grills in JC, same owner, one in West Side Ave, another in Newark ave (original). 819 W Side Ave Jersey City, NJ 07306 (201) 433-9600 655 Newark Ave Jersey City, NJ 07306 (201) 656-7060 prepare yourself for kalderetang kambing (goat), and papaitan, and of course my favorites, chicharong bulaklak and crispy pata...:D or you can try Rowena's 444 W Side Ave Jersey City, NJ 07304 (201) 435-1567 the best kare-kare in town... my cousin used to own his own Filipino restaurant in Newark Ave, 'Maynila' but his resto is in Staten Island now... send me a pm and let me know when ur planning to come by  |
all this talk about food is making me hungry...yeah fiesta grill in newark ave is too small and no parking but same great taste..they take pride of their lapaz batchoy and crispy pata..their sisig is not bad also..i guess best way is to experience it yourself. rowena's is a small joint with good food as well.. just go to JC and experience them all, then afterwards go and chill at the starbucks by the marina close to newport mall.. good times.

More picture of the philippines please!!! Make me homesick, so that I can get out of my rear and book a flight. When is the best time to go home? I want to do some water sports stuff ie jet ski, kayak, and dive. PM or send me a location. I will be taking my parents with me...they will be with everyone else while I do my thing. Is there a place where I can rent an X5 or BMW? Meet some ladies that can show me around?
Okay guys - y'all are making me hungry. Therefore, I have decided that I will hit one of these restaurant in June. NJ04e53, JayJay04X5, TQ2K, and anyone else in this board want to join me, please let me know, the invitation are not just the Filipinos but to everyone. Heck, I will even go to Staten Island for some food! None here in Philly! I will announce it on this board. At the listing of the mentioned restaurant which one is better? Parking and stuff...I really don't want to park my "little lady" on the street. thanks, Quote:
|
let's do it.. if parking is the concern, let's do fiesta grill on west side. 'll get some of my buddies to come join us. they are not bmw owners, but i'm sure they'll fit in somehow since we all drive AWD 6Spd vehicles :)
just confirm a date (best on a saturday). or if you want.. http://www.receptorband.com/shows.html June 15th is our independence day parade in Passaic. There will be different pinoy food vendors showcasing their specialties and it's a fun day. It's in Passaic Park. plenty of parking where we can take pics and stuff. |

As for car rentals, I don't think they rent BMW's here. Now for your plan of doing your thing...well....maybe Blueagle and I can assist you..;) Btw, you want more food pics? When was the last time you ate this?http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...s/IMG_1774.jpg |

For those who missed it here's my introduction thread in the E53 forum.
http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...roduction.html I'm originally from Manila, been living in Toronto 18 years this month and only been back to Manila twice in that time (last was a year ago). Can't imagine how one can drive an X there (Metro Manila) with the traffic and non-existent traffic rules - unless there's a cop around. |
