pinoy = filipino guy, pinay = filipino girl ... correct?

Bimmer360 02-20-2008 02:36 PM

yes and no. But pinoy is like being general that covers female genders as well, it's like saying mr. and mrs. bonfire or saying, are you mrs. ronald reagan? Something like that.

Zero chief, the nest of filipinos is in Daly City huh? lol...hope they're not too loud when they hang out and talk in Serramonte Mall. lol

small world isn't it! yes, I know where that church is, literally less than 10 minutes away from my house. it is close to alot of filipino stores (island pacific, pinoy pinay, seafood city, max's, toto's lechon, dj bibinkahan, goldilocks, red ribbon, chowking) that area has really developed into a small filipino town as they say.

blueagle and tbc111,
How does it feel like driving X in Manila, a lot of turning heads? Must be an eye catcher! I heard in the filipino news before that BMW is not part of the most carjacked car list. Is that right?

Bimmer360 02-21-2008 12:54 PM

Check this out. 3.6 Million in pesos for a 2005 Executive Series. Wow, just wow....

Well it has its ups and downs I think. Get your share of compliments. Sad to say too that like yesterday, as I was driving along EDSA from Makati to QC, this moron cut me off almost sending me to the wall of the tunnel (yes, there's now a tunnel below EDSA at the intersection of Ayala Ave.) But then again, that kind of idiotic driving is quite common here.

Blk03X5, I have an aunt who lives near the Shadow Oak Dr. area. I went to visit her last year. Then my batchmates from high school and I ate in this Pinoy resto near Manila Sunset. Forgot the name now.

Hey Jay - haven't been down in Jersey City. Been kinda busy with work because I temporary took over my leads job while he recovers from heart surgery. I don't know how he did it but, there are soo many meetings and action items I can not keep up.

Went out tonight and it was one of the worst date I had in a long time, so came home early.

May have to work tomorrow because of one of the interns "killed" a couple of displays. Oh, well! So, how have you been? I'll make it to Jersey City when the weather turns okay. Have to get ready for a convention in Baltimore and present a paper to a bunch of engineers. Man, I am a total geek.

If there's enough filipinos in this board from the tri-state area we should get together. Can't really speak tagalog but, I get by.

gatchalian 02-22-2008 11:50 PM

sounds good major...i think we have enough pinoy members within tri state

blueagle 02-23-2008 11:27 AM

Guys,

Driving in Manila in an X5 is a one hell of an experience. Can you stand up against the jeepneys and buses in the highway ? Fighting for spce and inches away from touching each other.....I am sure tbc111 will agree with me. It only gets worse with the increase of motorcyles weaving thru the highway and oftentimes hitting your side mirrors ? The key word I would always have to keep in mind while driving is "PATIENCE". My X5 is so precious that I do not want to risk even the slightest damage. Having an X5 diesel helps a lot with the daily taffic I have to live with.

blueagle 03-10-2008 06:53 PM

A full tank of gas sa Pinas ? Since I drive a diesel X5, diesel pirce is around 37 pesos per liter. A full tank in my X5 is around 95 liters. You can do the math....

I'm sure blueagle manages to save a few centavos with his diesel. As for me, when I feel the power of the 4.4i, I forget the price of the gas. Ganun din kasi mauubos din. At least enjoy and I make it to my destination faster! ;)

I travel often to my provincial projects.

jayjay_dee 03-10-2008 10:55 PM

wow, so its around P3500... grabe, ang mahal no? i remember when i first got my X, filled her up, cost me 75 bucks and was so surpised, becuase i was used to paying $30 only to fill up my corolla.

Yes, he does. Maybe we should invite him to join the forums. !ouch:

And no, I'm just an employee. The owner drives a 7 series, 05 X5 sports package, Cayenne, RR, SLK, rides the chopper on out of town sorties, etc...

Hey Jay - congrats on the new born. That's a cool name that you gave him. How many lbs and length?

Yep - still in the game. Haven't found the one...I found plenty of two's but, not the one. Why? Your wife has one picked out for me? No preferences at all.

I will be in the Bahamas April 4 to 13 April.
I would like to meet some pinoys in the area, since I do not have family up here in the Northeast. Maybe, we could order a pig roast or pot-luck, man I want to taste some filipino food. Spring would be a good time to have an X5world meet courtesy of the Pinoy commitee?

I am in - remember I will be gone the first week of April. Going to Andros, Bahamas that week. But, anytime after that would be great. We should have it at a park or someones house. 10 or more people would be great - should have a pot-luck lunch or dinner. And have it centeralized..maybe in Jersey?

Playboy Philippines was launched last night. It was held at the old Philiippine Plaza (now Hotel Sofitel), if some of you still remember the place. Very well attended. I guess people were hoping that it'll be as "liberal" as those in most countries, but it's not. Bitin nga! Here are a few pics of last night's affair.

How about suggesting a location and date then let's proceed from there... I'm in PA so really can't suggest a place convenient for everyone... I think a central place in NJ would be good for all..

Not on mine.

wilson 04-11-2008 08:31 AM

jayjay, i experienced a weird noise too on the front. read below and hope it will help you.

Guys,
i think i have to share this. well anyway, lately i hear a little clang noise on the front right side under the front suspension everytime i drove the vehicle in motion.

first, i was thinking it was a brake caliper problem. inspect the brake, everything ok. but still the clang noise is there whenever i initially put the vehicle in motion. i even brought the x (02/4.4i/120k km) to the dealer to be diagnose but to no avail, they could not find where the noise was coming from.

so this clang noise was really bothering me.

to make the story short, one weekend i thoroughly inspect all linkages on the right front suspension. jacked up the right front and support it and then wiggle the wheel. found out that the right ride height sensor bracket was loosed and every time i wiggle the wheel i hear a clang. item 9 & 10 on the link drawing. since i had this fix, clang noise was gone.
hope this will help some of you guys who experiencing some noise problem.

Calling all Pinoy X5 owners in the Philippines,

How about getting together this month ? I was thinking to meet in the Fort-Makati area ?

Major04 04-18-2008 10:58 AM

Hey all Pinoys in the Tri-State area. If you been living under a rock, there will be a meet in CT that Laura (CmyX5go) is putting together. Come out and play...May 31...she has it sticked!

Does being half filipino count? LOL. I'm a mutt.

Major04 04-18-2008 11:12 AM

I have 2 nieces that are full blood. The rest of my (3) nephews and (2) nieces are Mutts or nicer words (Mistesa)...all good!! I think there are more Flips out in the world now, than the population in the PI...Hell - I can't even speak the language and am full blood!

EKS PYB 04-18-2008 12:18 PM

Hey Charlie Hustle...where in SoCal are you located? I know there's a bunch of us here in the LA and surrounding areas but never met one yet from this forum. Half blood still has flip blood pumping through your veins so that's considered flip to me.

Jayjay - speaking of Jersey City. I was at Edison last week and I wanted to go to a Filipino restaurants. You were supposed to send me address'. Could you or someone that live or go to Jersey City/Bayonne give me some Filipino restaurants address? I need some food!

NJ04e53 05-22-2008 01:28 PM

just hit west side ave and you're in for a treat. there's a variety, but hands down to fiesta grill..great food for great price also clean, and they have a parking lot so you won't need to street park unless it's full. There's a red ribbon at newark ave. and other pinoy shops all around. let us know when u visit again and we can all meet up.

Would you guys give me an address so, that I could put it in my GPS? I know I am asking alot but, darn it...if I want to eat Filipino food, I have to fly to Tampa to see the 'rents. And I don't really cook! And I am from Philly, don't know the area in Jersey City.

jayjay_dee 05-22-2008 02:41 PM

Gerry,

there are 2 Fiesta Grills in JC, same owner, one in West Side Ave, another in Newark ave (original).

819 W Side Ave
Jersey City, NJ 07306
(201) 433-9600

655 Newark Ave
Jersey City, NJ 07306
(201) 656-7060

prepare yourself for kalderetang kambing (goat), and papaitan, and of course my favorites, chicharong bulaklak and crispy pata...:D

or you can try

Rowena's
444 W Side Ave
Jersey City, NJ 07304
(201) 435-1567

the best kare-kare in town...

my cousin used to own his own Filipino restaurant in Newark Ave, 'Maynila' but his resto is in Staten Island now...

send me a pm and let me know when ur planning to come by

NJ04e53 05-22-2008 02:52 PM

all this talk about food is making me hungry...yeah fiesta grill in newark ave is too small and no parking but same great taste..they take pride of their lapaz batchoy and crispy pata..their sisig is not bad also..i guess best way is to experience it yourself. rowena's is a small joint with good food as well.. just go to JC and experience them all, then afterwards go and chill at the starbucks by the marina close to newport mall.. good times.

No, our group spent a night at Isabela May 1 then to Banaue overnight, May 2 to check out the rice terraces. Back to Manila May 3.

To our kababayans in the US, the postcard pics don't do justice to the beauty of this place...

More picture of the philippines please!!! Make me homesick, so that I can get out of my rear and book a flight. When is the best time to go home? I want to do some water sports stuff ie jet ski, kayak, and dive. PM or send me a location. I will be taking my parents with me...they will be with everyone else while I do my thing. Is there a place where I can rent an X5 or BMW? Meet some ladies that can show me around?

Okay guys - y'all are making me hungry. Therefore, I have decided that I will hit one of these restaurant in June. NJ04e53, JayJay04X5, TQ2K, and anyone else in this board want to join me, please let me know, the invitation are not just the Filipinos but to everyone. Heck, I will even go to Staten Island for some food! None here in Philly!

I will announce it on this board. At the listing of the mentioned restaurant which one is better? Parking and stuff...I really don't want to park my "little lady" on the street.

thanks,

just confirm a date (best on a saturday). or if you want..

June 15th is our independence day parade in Passaic. There will be different pinoy food vendors showcasing their specialties and it's a fun day.

As for car rentals, I don't think they rent BMW's here. Now for your plan of doing your thing...well....maybe Blueagle and I can assist you..;)

Btw, you want more food pics? When was the last time you ate this?http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...s/IMG_1774.jpg

I will announce it on this board. At the listing of the mentioned restaurant which one is better? Parking and stuff...I really don't want to park my "little lady" on the street.

okay gerry, so your the official coordinator now, for this Pinoy restaurant thing at least.. :nanana:

its already June next week, so yeah, let us know when your coming so we can all have Pinoy lunch... if you have concern with street parking, Fiesta Grill in west side has a paking lot across d street, so no problem...

or if you want, we can have it at dinner time, they have ball room dancing friday and saturday nights i think... that is if you want to see some filipina girls :D, (results may vary) otherwise, lunch time is perfect...

let do this... :thumbup:

Major04 05-27-2008 03:40 PM

blueagle 05-29-2008 02:25 AM

Guys,

Do not forget to post pics when you get together.

In the meantime, I am trying to coordinate with tbc111 an X5 Pinoy EB. I know several X5 owners here in the Philippines....:D

Let's us try to do lunch June 21st at the Fiesta Grill West Side...one of my guys broke both ankles and have to cover a couple of Saturdays. I will post a meet and greet, if the 21st is okay.

We can start a list here if anyone is interested for that date...come on Jersey, PA, NY, CT Filipinos I know you guys are out there. Let's get together...we may find out that we are long lost relatives or something...

Jay - do we have to make reservations or just a walk-in type?

FYI - I am planning to go to that Filipino Festival on the 15th June in Pasaic, NJ

Today has been one of the longest days, was called back to work and just getting out.

Okay boys and girls - we are having a little Filipino get together for the first time. I do not know how many will show up. This is an open invitation to this restuarant. You don't have to be a Filipino to come this little get together.

Date: June 21, 2008
Time: Lunch time approximately 1130/1200 pm
Place:
Fiesta Grill
819 W Side Ave
Jersey City, NJ 07306
(201) 433-9600

If you have any question please PM me and I will answer questions to the best of my ability. And send you my personal cell number.

Thanks and hope to see some people there.
- Gerry Abreu Dulay

Ps - I may not come with the Bimmer to this lunch. May have to drop the engine this weekend and take my AW Dodge Truck.

Does anyone know where I can get a case of San Miguel beer in the Tri-state area?

NJ04e53 06-06-2008 02:52 PM

here in jersey, SMB is all over the place. Even local shoprite liquors have them. We also have Red Horse available now, and I believe in jersey city they have a few stores that sell RH.

theres a liquor store in Route 440, right next to Pathmark that sells SMB, but dont get too excited, they are not the same beer from the Phils. I believe they are from California, and not imported from our country. SMB bottles here are the clear (see thru) ones....

but still, they are the closest youll ever get to a real SMB!

NJ04e53 06-07-2008 08:54 AM

i think this is the same place that sells RH. RH is still very strong, and same taste..

jayjay_dee 06-10-2008 05:19 PM

welcome GJ... i would say we have at least 15 pinoys here...

i have a lot of relatives there in ontario...

tbc111 06-10-2008 06:25 PM

Hi GJ! Welcome to the thread!! How 'bout telling us more about your X5 (with some pics) and where in the Phils were you originally?

Last5oh 06-10-2008 09:23 PM

For those who missed it here's my introduction thread in the E53 forum.

http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...roduction.html

I'm originally from Manila, been living in Toronto 18 years this month and only been back to Manila twice in that time (last was a year ago).

Can't imagine how one can drive an X there (Metro Manila) with the traffic and non-existent traffic rules - unless there's a cop around.

I believe you.... I'd guess 80% of all Filipinos in Canada are in Ontario... its like California of the North, everyone in the Philippines has relatives in Ontario!!! LOL
