Can you please provide me a link to the newbie section? When I go to the site it asks me to login right away - which, of course, I can't right now.

I don't see any other links other than HOME, HELP, LOGIN & REGISTER.

I must be doing something wrong. :dunno:

Kamusta everyone, finally saw this thread today (where have I been? under a rock?) Been so busy researching stuff on the main e53 forum that I never bothered to poke around the rest of the site. There was a similar thread on e46fanatics a while back.

Anyway, Pinoys are a rarity up here in the NW. I was a toddler when my family left the Phils, lived in different parts of the world, mostly Europe and the US eventually (expat parents) I did go back for a bit when my parents remodeled the brand new house they left behind for over 10 years which was crumbling from neglect.

One of the classes I had to take was "Filipino for Foreigners 1" along with all the expat brats and military kids at the International School. Fun stuff trying to read "El Filibusterismo" and I ended up buying the English version and cheating on the tests. It was so much fun over there, no drinking age, no speed limits, heck I had a driver's license before I was old enough to drive. That's where I got into modding cars. Me and my friends terrorized Makati's streets after dark. I was truly sad to leave.

Anyway, here is a picture of my bone stock silver/black 03 X5 (sport/premium/cold weather pkg)

Finally found this thread! Thanks jayjay for letting me know about it. Nagbasa muna ako ng early posts before posting and mention of St. Martha's along Azusa and Toto's lechon Manok and all the other Pinoy eateries in West Covina brings back a lot of memories. My wife and i lived in Covina for 5 years before coming back to the Philippine in 1997. We still vissit once in a while and during our last visit in 2008, we were lucky enough to have as our 'serbis' my brother's X5. I loved driving that car. Put in 3K miles on the clock during our 4 week stay. Even drove it to Tahoe. Sorry forr the mileage bro!

Anyway, the same brother is the one who helped me find my car in Sherman Oaks - a 2005 Le Mans Blue 4.8is. I drove it out of the Customs stalag at the North Harbor just last 25 september - a day before the great flood.

I now live with my own family in Quezon City, but grew up in our family compound in Erap country - San Juan. My mom still lives there ad she called me this morning to tell me to visit her as she wants to see my 'new' car.

Anyway, I'm rambling. It's great to find this thread. Hope to interact with you guys more.

Yes I checked import regulations and it seems the X5 does not qualify for import even as a 'balikbayan' I wonder the the loophole is?

Based on the latest Bureau of Customs memo, you cannot import any second hand bmw model . :(

phildg2000 10-05-2009 09:53 PM

Sorry guys, I wish I had found a loophole but the truth is, mine was a diplomatic import (blue plates).

blueagle, I've been posting in the BMW Phils forum (at least in the area for non-members) since 2004, during my E34 days. Haven't officially joined (meaning I haven't paid the dues) though. Will do so soon!

It doesn't say that you can't... I think the additional requirement is for prior review/approval for a used car to enter the Phils. I guess it means more grease money...

Don't know if you're following local Philippine news but if you do, you'd know that P-Noy broke up with his girlfriend and media was wild over seeing the president out on a date last October 9.

Well, do you know which car he brought on date night? You got it! I happened to get stopped at Quezon Blvd that night (early evening; he was probably on his way to his date) by the presidential convoy - hagads without wang-wangs, ambulance, then the X5.

Hello fellow pinoys! My name is Richard from so-cal and I finally decided to join in on this forum cuz I just picked up an 02' e53 3.0i that only had 67,XXX miles on it :dunno: in red. Nothing done really other than some paint corrections and repair to the missing pixels in the dash and a burnt out screen on the navi. I also came because I wanted to see what everybody is doing to their X's!

Here's a pic of mine!

I just got back from my fist visit to the PI and would honestly be scared to drive my X5 out there. Most drivers are super aggressive and rules of the road are followed differently than here in the states.
Although it seem like mad chaos, I must admit I did not see one accident nor one incident of road rage. The honking of the horn is a courtesy honk out there with no attitude behind it.

blueagle 03-23-2012 09:53 PM

Yup, nothing compared to the US. We are trying our best to put some order on the roads. First is to get those motorcycles to stick to their own lane...Many accidents in Manila are caused by motorcycles weaving left and right along the major highways...

Bimmer360 04-26-2012 11:50 AM

wow, i started this thread a while back and did not come back until just now. Good to know you guys still have your X5.

TwinsPoppa 04-26-2012 12:21 PM

I'm sure a lot of other places are wild too. Like China. Some areas in the city you make left turns from the far RIGHT lanes. Yes, its at a traffic light/traffic cop but imagine finding that out when you're in the far left lane. LOL.

I also experienced in China:

- people going down one-way streets
- 3 lanes become 5 lanes or however many traffic makes it
- highway driving and passing on the shoulder

If you want to drive in China, you better be a good, aggressive driver.

Also, still have the X. Here's how she is today.

Actually I replaced my E46 with X5 and I replaced the X5 with Chevy Trailblazer SS. Although the love X5 still, I am having a great time with my SS as well. It has 6.0 V8 engine @ almost 400HP. here is the pic:

ano pa ba pwedeng gawin......ESS ?>.

TwinsPoppa 05-09-2012 11:59 PM

Looking good Mike! I really like the special edition rear flares.

I'll make sure to have the engine bay cleaned up a bit but not gonna be as nice as that. You saw what it was like last time at Liberty Park.

It's hard to believe but I have not had my X detailed once since I've owned it - not even just the outside. I better do it for the end of the world meet. :)

pnoyako85 05-10-2012 12:01 AM

hahahahahahahah.........yeah i saw...that retro fit kit from ECS..was a pain....to tell you..i had to do all that stuff...for the flares?>.....i thought it was a plug and play...boy when it came down to making templates and doing the last bit at the rear bumper..that was a pain.....lol..but after...its all worth it...
