CF: Thanks for the link...but, I still like the 70" Sony Wega/XBR sumpin' LCD proj for $4500 and dropping like a rock. Time will tell. We all need to avoid a recession, the Chicken Flu and the jihad crazies in the mean time.

Circuit City has a bunch, as they were not exactly flying out the door, lol! So do other net sellers...but, I am patient and will have Lots of models & species to pick from in early Dec., I think.

MD:
I have seen the Sony 70" that you showed the link for. I helped my dad buy (and set up) the new generation 50" Sony some weeks back (last model before the SXRD). Pretty good picture, at that price point. However, having seen the SXRD Sony sets (50" is now in stores here, 60" is another week out), and having watched the overpriced 70" Qualia (same technology), I really think you should look at the SXRD before pulling the trigger. The 60" SXRD will be around the same price as the previous generation 70", and the pictures are not in the same league, IMHO. The SXRD deserves to be called an XBR, the 70" didn't. There was a real smoothness to the SXRD, much more lifelike. Also, the contrast was incredible, blacks showed up like the DLP TVs have had for some time. I have been watching a 34" widescreen XBR800 CRT for several years, waiting for a big screen that had a picture good enough to make me switch. I think the 60" SXRD will do it. Just my $0.02 |
JCL: Thanks for your opin...I've added it to my FlawRaDuhJoint list of things to check out.
I need to go "see" these in person, when we roll down there again for stage 2 of wallpapering and painting the new joint as we get ready for our final winter migration. I think 60" is plenty big; it was the theCEO that was enamored of the Sony 70" XRB LCD proj screen when we saw it back in July. I have some time on my side and some resistance to just "going big or going home" as they say. Thanks again, BR, Ol'UncMotor |
