I tried to find info on Crackberry about push e-mail settings with no luck. Can anyone tell me how to check or see how often my storm is checking for e-mails? I need to be sure it is checking for e-mail as frequently as possible. Is all bb e-mail push?

I am running version 148 and changed hte keyboard settings. So far so good with the Storm, but I do wish it had wi-fi.

Are you using a enterprise server or your own email? I tested mine the first week or so by sending myself emails. They were received before I could take my finger off the send button. I tried at different times and it was all the same. As for wi-fi....that's on tap for the "Storm 2".........Phil

gmail and yahoo email are instanteous, blackberry has a special arrangement with them that the alert out to the BIS server when there's an email availble.

For non gmail and yahoo accounts, BIS will check every 8-15 minutes or so, and if an email is delivered during that check, the BIS server will check again in I believe under 90 seconds for subsequent emails (in case there's a real time conversation going on).

If you're on your company's BES server, it should be close to instanteous.

There's no way to get around these timings, trust me, I've tried.

You CAN go into your inbox, hit the bberry button and select "reconcile now" if you want to force the bberry to check for emails, but it doesn't work every time, it's all about the timing of the bberry bis servers checking your email ISP.

I am using my comcast e-mail account, which is set up on my MS Outlook 03 as well. I have set my Outlook to "leave messages on the server", but there is anywhere from a 5-30 minute lag between when the e-mails arrive on Outlook and my BB. I am not using any special servers or anything. I need to be able to receive e-mails from one company immediately, so am I forced to set up a G-mail or yahoo account for that company?

What you could do is set up a rule in outlook that autoforwards any emails from [email protected] to a gmail account and set up the gmail account on your bberry. This gets a little messy though because the emails hitting your bberry will be coming from [email protected] to [email protected] so you won't be able to preserve the original from/to, which makes replying to the email difficult/ugly.

You could also create a gmail account and give that address to the company that you need to converse with quickly.

Using BIS for work or timely emails is tough, I use it only for personal email, and BES for work.

I see there is an app that is supposed to do have the same effect as pulling the battery to reboot and increase memory. Any experience with it? Do you think it can work as well as a pull? I am researching this on crackberry.com as we speak, but I trust you guys here more than the people over there.

I never saw the need to install the app. Its just a waste of memory IMO. Unless you have a hard cover case, I suggest just sticking to the battery pull.

I do a battery pull once every two weeks max. I don't think you need that app

Only if phone locks up or you're not getting emails on it, which happens very rarely for me.

You also want to dial *228 and pick option 2 to download the most current cell tower info. I do it occasionally when I'm in an area I haven't been in awhile or in a new area.
