If the iphone becomes available for Verizon, it will be game over. That is the major thing keeping AT&T sales up. Verizon is much better as far as national coverage is concerned. It would be great if you could could pair AT&T phones with Verizon's network.

I'm not exaggerating when I say about 75% of my calls are dropped on the AT&T network. That has gone up significantly since the addition of SMS photo texting. We have a rule among AT&T users that who ever initiated the call calls back when the call is dropped. That way we are not continuing to call each other back getting voice mail when the call has dropped.

When I first made the rule people laughed but now think it is a good idea because it happens so much. I even tell people on lan lines or other networks because I know the call will drop on my end. I love my iPhone but I often think of leaving due to the poor service.

I'm in the San Francisco area and calls in peak times 5-6pm drop about 95% of the time after a minute or so.

Ha Ha .... I like UR method of who calls back when U get dropped !!!! In NYC its about 40-50 % dropped calls !!!!!!

Are you moving in your car when the calls drop?

I have to say that except for a few dead zones I never have a dropped call with Verizon. Verizon does cost more and the phones are not as nice.
They act mostly like the monopoly phone company of the 60's.

If you want dropped calls try Sprint. AT&T Works well for me, except in concrete buildings, when all you will get is Verizon. However, I would be paying about $400 per month versus $200 to get equal services with crappier phones with Verizon, so I think I'll pass. You know that Verizon WILL find some way to F*ck up the iphone with their proprietary crap. It also doesn't work overseas which is a no for me.

I've never had problems with dropped calls with AT&T unless im in west moosef*ck Maine, and then I'm pretty sure even Globalsat doesn't work. The only thing that happens from time to time is 5 minutes of it not going at all.

With the crisis there, don't expect anything of the California infrastructure in the next several years.

Not always but usually. This really should not be an issue in the San Francisco / San Jose area with overlap. Sure tunnels, remote areas and a few rare occasions of dead areas are expected to drop calls. You expect limitations on the technology; however, these are network overload call drops. Time of day is a major factor and as the popularity of the iPhone grew so did the dropped calls. Then the addition of SMS which was held off for a reason came along and poor service areas became ridiculously poor.
