Just curious, how true is this--"There's a map for this..."

Verizon removes gloves, begins 'There's a map for that' anti-AT&T ad campaign (video)

I understand that AT&T 3G service is very quick, even quicker than any CDMA EV-DO Rev A phone...but, that is if you can get 3G service for AT&T phones.

However, Verizon has a bunch of older outdated phones...except for their new Google phones finally coming to Verizon.

Is the AT&T map misleading or even an old map??

Depends on who you ask?
I believe this is recent.

But then so is this one.

I compared your map and Verizon's AT&T map and it looks to be the same. :wow:

However, I remember having 3G on my smartphone since 2006 and my friends on Verizon even had it about a year before that. AT&T's map looks like Verizon's 3G map from 3 years ago...

AT&T need to start building up those 3G towers or are they getting ready for 4G LTE? Heard Verizon is already working on 4G LTE towers already.

Not news to you I know but
No-matter how much chest thumping
any of them do none of them are worth a
quarter if they don't work where you need
them to work even if the map say's it will.

Personally I'm still blown away by Nextel
direct connect. From San francisco to brazil
in an instant, clear as a bell......

HAHA we had that in 1998, and it cut out halfway up our driveway in Greater Boston EVERY TIME.

AT&T 3G is not bad, try Europe. I had to look up what the little O meant on my iPhone (GPRS) and why the hell I was getting it in Paris.

Not so fast say's AT&T

AT&T sues Verizon over 'there's a map for that' ads

AT&T is ridiculous. The map clearly says 3G vs 3G. Not 3g vs 2G. Not no coverage vs 3G.

It's only misleading to AT&T's legal dept and those who need a RIF class.

Kewl X5 11-03-2009 06:45 PM

But I believe Verizon is correct to state that the blank area in AT&T's map is NO 3G coverage. The Map shows 3G vs. 3G, not 3G vs. Edge 2.5G+3G.

However, AT&T is losing market share because of their smaller 3G coverage and not because of some Verizon ad. Now, what AT&T needs to do is plan for the future and push for 4G LTE coverage nationwide and they will have the upper hand over Verizon.

Quicksilver 11-03-2009 10:05 PM

Legal wrangling at it's best........;)

AT&T even says it has "no quarrel with Verizon advertising its larger 3G network.
Verizon's already changed the ads once at AT&T's behest, editing them to remove the
phrase "out of touch" and adding a "Voice and data services available outside of 3G areas"
small print disclaimer at the end. Apparently that wasn't enough for AT&T, which says the ads still confuse
non-technical viewers into thinking AT&T provides no service at all outside of its 3G coverage.

But AT&T may have a point when they say "the ads still confuse
non-technical viewers into thinking AT&T provides no service at all outside of its 3G coverage.
