Self imposed obsolescence by those who feel they need to be on the bleeding edge is exactly right.
Those just doing mail and the Internet need to seriously consider their needs.
If I didn't need the horsepower and high end software I wouldn't be considering
Any upgrades period.

Guess what my MacBook looks like?

It's black. That should tell you how old my MB is. Circa 2007. Would I love a sexy new aluminum MB Pro? Heck yes but I just can't justify it because I don't use my MB for any heavy lifting.

I love the newest stuff but I do have my limits.

I'm getting mine in a week or so, but I still think its a both practical and aesthetic downgrade... Way too big...

That's what SHE said! :D

It's funny you think it's too big. I'm sure many people were hoping for a big screen to compete with Samsung but I do not like the idea of lugging around and holding to my head something akin to a mini-tablet. It looks silly and cannot be comfortable.

I had heard that Apple's philosophy on the size of the iPhone was based on the average person's thumb span. The screen should not be wider than the thumb can reach so one handed operation was still possible. I guess since Apple didn't want to go wider, they went taller. I'll have to wait until I get "hands on" with the 5 but I do think that the iPhone 4 is a pretty ideal size.

Why wouldn't they have their stupid, overpriced dock to Lightning adapter ready and available at launch?? Weeks without music & charging in the car? I'll wait.

What's worse is that we'll have to wait even longer before reasonably priced aftermarket versions become available. $29 is outrageous.

The lightening adapter will not work for external speakers e.g. in the car.

It's "lightning" like what happens in a thunderstorm, not "lightening" like what Apple is doing to the sheeple's wallets ;)
