How do I install v29?

I have already downloaded the v29 from the internet, and I got two files, v29.mdf and v29.mds , I have copied into a normal cd, but when I put the cd in the bimmers nav, it ejects the disc from it, should I copie the files to a dvd disc or what???
Thanks.

Sounds like you have not burned the disc correctly, try this

Once you have downloaded the file, unzip it (using winzip or similar) into a sub-dir on your pc.

Then use imgburn or similar (http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download) to burn a new
(blank) cd with the new downloaded firmware image.

eg:
install imgburn.
then run.
open v29.mds (from sub-dir).
select "mode write" from menu.
press write (cd image at bottom).

Burn at 1x speed, on good quaility cd.

When its finished writing your new firmware cd,
Goto the car open the drivers door,
Goto the dvd nav computer wait for the red led on the drive to go out,
Then press eject on drive,
Eject the map disc,
Switch ign to pos 1, leave door open.
Insert firmware disc into drive, follow instruction on nav screen.
Wait (approx 6 mins) till sat nav asks to eject cd and reboot.
Eject cd,
Confirm reboot.

Thats it.

Do not swich off ignition or close the door when doing the upgrade.

Hope this helps.

Think this may be a coding issue. In NavCoder under Nav Coding, there is an option setting for 'Radio Splitscreen Enabled (New Gen Radio BM54/BM53)'. It is possible your coding has gone. In the service menu under Telematics, is your vehicle VIN number, vehicle colour etc still there, and is your vehicle type correct, or has it gone back to blank VIN and vehicle type of 7er E38?

You may need to either get the nav recoded at the dealer or better still, get NavCoder and an i-bus board and do it yourself

just finished upgrade the v29 to my MKIV everything works great. only problem i have is when i switch to perspective mode i can not see the street name on the screen anymore. i am just wondering is it normal? or is because my nav disk is old? (2003 version)
