If the car has ever had the Range Rover Mk3 replaced with a BMW Mk3, then you must load the BMW OS software

CONFIRM first what the vehicle has and what OS version is fitted (top right of settings screen)

Attempting to load an OS on a Range Rover nav when you do not have an original Range Rover OS disc can kill the nav (corrupt flash) so be CAREFUL!

The Rover 75 has the E46 4:3 system I think. Slightly different to the Range Rover and BMW, but I wasn't sure.

I got back from holiday and my Relser interface has been shipped

Physically the nav is similar, because it is made by the same manufacturer.
But the boot loader in the navigation computer only loads software from a boot disc that identifies itself as Range Rover OS (LROC01S).

The boot loader cannot be changer, it is in the EEPROM of the nav computer

This is why the BMW OS, which has a bootloader of BMWC01S cannot be loaded

Therefore I repeat myself:
If it is the original Range Rover nav, it expects an OS from a Range Rover OS disc (LROC01S). It CANNOT load an OS from the BMW OS disc (BMWC01S)

DO NOT TRY

You risk corrupting the flash memory in the Range Rover nav and making the nav totally inoperable.

CONFIRM exactly what you have BEFORE you try loading an OS.

You may already have the newest Range Rover OS ever released, if that is the case no newer OS exists and the exercise is pointless.

OK, I didn't fully understand at first. Thanks.

KiwiJochen> I scooped up a cheap 4:3 monitor on eBay and might put it into my retrofit project.

Is the boot loader in the BMW MK3 radionavigation [monochrome] GPS (BMW PN 65906920758] also preventing an upgrade of the firmware to a colour 4:3 version?

You may need to use navcoder to change the unit to a colour one (easy enough with navcoder and an OS disc).

Connect the mk3, then connect the i-bus interface and run navcoder, use the navigation tab and its at the bottom of the page, tick the boxes and put the os disc in when it asks for it, thats it.

Please forgive my dumb question.

My new 2010 X5 is being delivered today; within the hour in fact.

Can anyone please tell me what Nave system is in the new X5 and how do I check the Nav firmware version and the map version.

Also what are the current versions of the firmware and map info.
Does this new update apply to the 2010 X5?

Again sorry for the dumb questions. But thanks in advance for the help.

You will probably have the PRO nav system and the latest here in Europe is the 2010-1 PRO disc, not sure about the states (2009-1) I think.

OS updates are done through the dealers only and are not "home" upgradeable.

As for what version I have no idea, sorry.

CCFJ1, i have read this forum up and down and im sorry to bother you but i need to ask you a question as I could not find the answer.

I have MK4 and i have updated it to V32 already with a file u posted for someone else under night time mode. I am now trying to edit my own custom splash. Which file do I need to modify and where?

Also,

I noticed in your other post you changed the version number from 10.00 to 10.01....How do i make mine 10.02 so the update is forced?

Thank you!

For the mk4 you need to edit the navboot file, and its under the rom_icon tab (I think). its about the 14 entry down.
