Hey guys, long time reader, first post.

Haven't updated my nav since V28, so it might be time to do that..

Right now I'm running V28 with an ///M Splash logo on my MKIV....

How can I upgrade to the latest without losing the ///M Splash?

And what are the best, or main, noticeable updates I will see from my current version?

Welcome to the forums.

You will need to extract your m logo splash and then insert it into the v32 (using navtweak).

Then burn a new OS and update you drive, have a look at the navtweak thread, its a sticky on the first page.

As for differences, bug fixes, driver updates, better routing algorithms, new icons, Dual layer dvd disc reading to name a few.

Thanks,

I'm having trouble installing the navtweak program... I tried installing the Glade/GTK first but it won't let me install either. It says that .dll are missing, try reinstalling the application.

This could be because my PC is about 7 or 8 years old, my main machine now is a new iMac. Navtweak is not for Mac is it?

Is it possible for someone to insert the ///M splash screen in the V32 file and send it to me?

Can a DVD-R be used to burn a NAV OS disc? Or only a CD-R?

Also for a MKIV system what is the current Navigation Disc for the US? It is in a 2002 X5 4.6is (upgraded from MKIII). I assume a High disc not Professional is needed as Professional is for iDrive?

To burn an OS disc you need to use a burner compatible with the media you are using, ie: a DVD writer can write CDs and DVDs.

You can burn the OS onto DVD or CD, both can be used in the Mk4 to load the OS.

Thanks Jochen, just burned a DRD-R after your info and it worked perfectly. Now I just need to learn how to use NavTweak to break the file down and change the logos.

Cheers!

Sounds like you do not have the modded postcode disc mate, OEM is via the town/city field, modded is where you are looking.

Did you try entering the postcode into the City field?
