can anyone help i have a MKiv nav when i turn the TMC on it works for about 5 mins then reboots the system the cd still plays but the screen goes black then come back

Hi,

Solution is to burn v31 or v32 in a new cd and update your MK-IV sowftware. Previous versions had bugs in the TMC, and also a wrong-burned copy could be the root cause of your problem.

Use good-quality CD and nero or ImgBurn at slowest speed.

Manu.

And make sure the TMC database on the map disc is the latest version - ie: make sure you have a latest version map disc.

If the laser in the Mk4 is getting old then it may be struggling to read copied discs. Use original discs, or replace the laser.

SORRY I FOR GOT TO SAY I HAVE V31 ON I DID V32 THE OTHER DAY BUT WHEN I PUT THE DISK IN IT SAY THE SOFTWARE WAS UP TO DATE

Drop down to v29 and then backup to v31/v32 (v31 and v32 are the same, so the nav won't update)

BTW loose the caps lock mate, no need to shout.

P.S Welcome to the forum.

If you get stuck PM me direct.

Use imgburn or similar (http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download) to burn a new
(blank) cd with the new downloaded firmware image.

Download, unzip the v29 image and then open imgburn, and select the "write image file to disc" then select the v29.mds (i think) file.

Select the write speed as x1 (or the slowest rated speed for the disc, you must do this) and then burn on a good quality cd.

When its finished writing your new firmware cd,
Goto the car open the drivers door,
Goto the nav computer and press eject on drive,
Eject the map disc,
Switch ign to pos 1, leave door open.
Insert firmware disc into drive, follow instruction on nav screen.
Wait (approx 6 mins) till sat nav asks to eject cd and reboot.
Eject cd,
Confirm reboot.

That's it.

Do not switch off ignition or close the door when doing the upgrade.

BTW, is your drive a MK3 or a MK4?
