Sounds like a wonderful trip.... I am sure you are currently enjoying some excellent Brunello d'Montelicinos in Tuscany, before traveling up to the Barolo region. I assume you have already seen this documentary film, but if not, check it out: Mondovino is a 2004 documentary film that chronicles the impact of globalization on the world's different wine regions written and directed by American film maker Jonathan Nossiter. It was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival, as well as a Cesar Award. AVB-AMG

I am continuing my very eclectic reading list, via Audible audio books that I am listening to on my iPhone and synced via Bluetooth to my BMW’s audio system during my silly 1 hour 15 min. driving commute each way from my home to my office in New York City. Since I have two and a half hours of driving each day, Monday through Friday, audio books offer an ideal way to make what would otherwise be unproductive time into an entertaining and educational respite that I actually look forward to. I find that listening to an audio book actually can de-stress the aggravations of traffic and therefore probably lowers my blood pressure. So after listening to the local radio stations for weather, traffic, news, sports scores and market info, I can switch to an audio book to “switch gears”. So for those who may be interested, here is my most recent list of ‘reads’:
1. American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America By Colin Woodard 2. The Age of Acquiescence: The Life and Death of American Resistance to Organized Wealth and Power By Steve Fraser 3. Food: A Love Story By Jim Gaffigan 4. Tom Clancy Under Fire By Grant Blackwood 5. The End of Normal: The Great Crisis and the Future of Growth By James K. Galbraith 6. When to Rob a Bank: And 131 More Warped Suggestions and Well-Intended Rants By Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubnar (Authors of FREAKONOMICS) 7. The Death of Money: The Coming Collapse of the International Monetary System By James Rickards 8. Griftopia: A Story of Bankers, Politicians, and the Most Audacious Power Grab in American History By Matt Taibbi 9. Political Order and Political Decay: From the Industrial Revolution to the Globalization of Democracy By Francis Fukuyama 10. The Joy of Retirement: Finding Happiness, Freedom and the Life You’ve Always Wanted By David C. Borchard and Patricia A. Donohoe AVB-AMG

Right now i'm stuck in Gödel, Escher, Bach: an "Eternal Golden Braid".
It's a book about music and artifical intelligence. The tagline "a metaphorical fugue on minds and machines in the spirit of Lewis Carroll" It's a look at the brilliant minds of mathematician Kurt Godel, graphic artist M. C. Escher, and composer Johann Sebastian Bach, computer-science and cognitive-science professor Douglas Hofstadter ties together the aesthetic gift of pattern recognition and manipulation with theories on artificial intelligence, human intelligence, and the essence of self-awareness. I keep having to start over because it's difficult. I put it down and it lays in wait until I decide to take it up again. Starting over is just as interesting as it was the first time I read it.
