Johnathan Zittrain's book The Future of the Internet -- And How to Stop It may be on point. http://futureoftheinternet.org/files...heInternet.pdf 3 MB 345 pps Hmm, seems to be a new expanded edition for me to read.

Those ads really bother me as well..
Quite hilarious that that is their selling point.. really? I couldn't care less about having wifi in my car. I had this conversation with someone (not a very smart person at that), and they said it was impressive and could save them money (as they'd get data for the car and not on their kids phones...?) SERIOUSLY?!?!

And here I am, the guy who logs into his computer to answer Facebook Messenger (I refuse to install it), doesnt use Twitter, IG, Snapchat, etc, is about to retire from Facebook because its a cesspool.
My version of in-car entertainment is GPS Navigation screen and satellite radio and/or an iPod. The rest of your entertainment should be driving. And I am only 28. About to just install a Dynavin N6 and drive the X5 until I'm 40.

My problem/concern is the car mfger's race to expand consumer usable telematics.
Back up cams, lane trackers, blind side buzzers, 'auto' emergency braking, et al, are nice and the anecdotes of drivers being 'saved' can run for hundreds of pages. All well and good, unless those drivers come to simply rely on the safety net(s), and just mash the gas and sort of point it down the road... But this ongoing competition to add more 'wired/connected' features in cars is not good, imo. Driving around, it is apparent that this texting plague may be worse than drunk/doped driving. Add in watching vids/TV on NAV, checking your smart phone for FB, messages, etc., and it's a fookin nightmare out there on the roads and highways, imo. Save the crap excuse that "it's important", or "only for the passenger", and on and on... BT/hands free phone, I get it and can't fight it. But the rest of the crap is nonsensical, self anointed, extraneous distraction venues that add nothing to any situ, and simply promotes more bad driving, if that is possible. GL, mD

Well put motordavid.
How will a new driver, who has become accustom to driving distracted (because of the "life saving" features in "nanny cars"), do when he gets behind the wheel of a car without these aids?
