Hmmmm. accelerating or braking, another positive aspect of driving an X.:thumb up: I believe you're missing the point. See if you can find some positive aspects to share.

Haha unless you have a 3.0. Then accelerating isn't anything to write home about.

Lowly 3.0 5spd here...
In almost 14 yrs and ~103,000 miles I have never said or thought, "Holy fookin moly, if I only had a V8 instead of this IL6".

Agree that the 3.0 acceleration "isn't anything to write home about", but I have never felt the acceleration was inadequate or missed not having a V8.

I have driven several V8 E5s, E70s and a very fast X6: all wonderful, but the 3.0 is not lacking in 'power', imo.

Bought two used x5s this year. Old enough to be paid in full so:
➀ no car payment
➁ 14 years old so cheap insurance
➂ mine came with 20mm wider tires Happened to be winter tires so they corner in the wet as if dry
➃ wife's copy inexplicably getting 24-25 mpg highway!
➄ all time 4wd means safety for surprise slippery spots
➅ rain sensing wipers
➆ heated steering
➇ heated wiper fluid.

I could list about 40 more. When I picked up my x5 I thought "where have you been all my life" and "why do they bother making other cars"?

Got rear ended in my '10 X535d. Was in the shop for 2 weeks. Rental company provided a GMC Acadia w/28k miles on it. Fairly loaded, basically drove like a Buick. On the 3rd day it left a spot in my garage about 18" x 24", appeared to be coolant. Called Enterprise and they said to take it to Firestone, they'll fix it. Told them to run their own errands, I've got enough of my own to do. Suggested they bring me another SUV. I get a new Dodge Journey w/24 miles on it. Put 1300 miles on it, I actually liked driving it better than the GMC. Picked up my X this past Friday and I was taken aback at how much I missed it and how well it drove. About to turn 136k, I do feel it's a bit of a time bomb, but reading the comments on F15 forums, makes me want t0 keep on going. Absolutely great all around vehicle-paid for!
