They help greatly. If laser is used on any vehicle in front of you, you will get a signal alerting you to slow down. Now if you are the only vehicle on the road, best bet is to keep your eyes open.

I hear all this hype about V1 - how is it better than any other detector. I've read about the front-rear sensors etc, does that really matter? Radar/Lazer bounce off of everything around you anyway. And if you are the only car on the road, then nothing helps.

Who "really" knows about these - what do they do that others don't?

range is significant better than the passports. On drives down I5, we had alerts from a little over a mile away that that v1 can detect (Ka) The arrows are nice.. knowing where the last radar/lidar came from. Another advantage is V1 supports POP now. Of course if you are the only car on the road, you're screwed.
